RE: Barriers EncroachinE City Rh!ht-of-Way
Dear Terra Nova Management:
GARY HAAKENSON
MAYOR
Our records indicate that you are the owner of the residence at 24231 Firdale Avenue. We have
been made aware that a large, timber style barrier is placed within the City of Edmonds right-of-
way in front of your property. Please be aware that it is a violation of City Code to place any
structures within the City's right-of-way without an encroachment permit. All permanent
structures within the City right-of-way must be placed under an approved encroachment permit
and to City standards, per Edmonds Community Development Code 18.70 (copy attached). The
location of the barricade was not approved by the City, nor has it been placed to City standards.
The City of Edmonds directs you to remove the barricade from the right-of-way and onto private
property within thirty days of today's date to prevent further action by our Code Enforcement
Officer. Encroachment perinits are not typically granted for the erection of fixed structures in the
safety clear zone of the roadway.
Your cooperation in bringing this issue into compliance is appreciated. If you have any
questions, please feel free to call me at 425-771-0220, Ext. 1328.
Sincerely,
DARRELL C. SMITH
Traffic Engineer

The Critical Areas Checklist contained on this form is
to be filled out by any person preparing a
Development Permit Application for the City of
Edmonds prior to his/her submittal of a development
permit to the City.
The purpose of the Checklist is to enable City staff to
determine whether any potential Critical Areas are, or
may be, present on the subject property. The
information needed to complete the Checklist should
be easily available from observations of the site or
data available at City Hall (Critical Areas inventories,
maps, or soil surveys).
An applicant, or his/her representative, must fill out
the checklist, sign and date it, and submit it to the
City. The City will review the checklist, make a
precursory site visit, and make a determination of the
subsequent steps necessary to complete a development
permit application.
Please submit a vicinity map along with the signed
copy of this form to assist City staff in finding and
locating the specific piece of property described on
this form. In addition, the applicant shall include
other pertinent information (e.g., site plan, topography
map, etc.) or studies in conjunction with this Checklist
to assist staff in completing their preliminary
assessment of the site
I have completed the attached Critical Areas Checklist and attest that the answers provided are factual, to the
best of my knowledge (fill out the appropriate column below).
