The purpose of this letter is to request your assistance regarding the property you own at
401-409 Howell Way in Edmonds. During review of a new business licenseapplication
for 407 Howell Way, the City Fire Marshal's office, working in conjunction with the
Building Department, has found that the only plans on file for that portion of the building
are from ' 1969. When the Fire Marshal performed a walkthrough he noted that the tenant
space for 407 did not match the 1969 plans on file. Would you perhaps have a more
accurate floor plan that we could copy for our records?
Of particular concern is a door opening in what we believe is an existing fire wall. We
would appreciate any plans that you may have that would assist us in resolving this
matter. If it is determined that a code defici6ncy exists the City would reques . t that you
obtain the necessary permit to correct the situation.

Dear Sir:
On July 20, 1977, the Fire Department'advised you by letter
that certain items at the above referenced address were in
violation of City Ordinances or Fire Codes.
On August 29, 1977, a reinspection of the premises was made..
This inspection indicated that code violations remain
uncorrected.
The Fire Department is aware that it may be difficult at
times to correct such violations immediately. However, the
Ordinances and Fire Codes were adopted by the City of
Edmonds to provide a minimum of equal protection for all.its
citizens and their property and are a matter of law. .
It is not our desire to bring legal action against you to
obtain your cooperation, but we mus't comply with the law..
Whether or not we avoid this alternative 31-s up to you.
The Inspector will reinspect after 30 days, to ascertain
your status.
Please advise by return mail your intentions or questions
regarding this matter.

On July 18, 19-77, Universal Electronics was inspected by
members of the Edmonds Fire Prevention Bureau.
We reques.t the following.corrections:
l.. Restroom: Replace the plastic waste container
witFi a metalor approved non-combustible type.
Plastic trash liners may be used in metal
containers.
2. Office Supply Area:
a. Provide approved wiring and electrical plug
attachment for the fluorescent fixture.
b. Extension cords are prohibited. Permanent
wiring and receptacles shall be installed
where needed for all electrical appliances.

3. Replace all missing, undamaged ceiling panels.
