ARCHITECTS/ENGINEERS SPECIFICATIONS:
The control panel for the fire alarm system shall be a model number HS-2100 manufactured by Harrington
Signal Incorporated of Moline, IL. It shall be listed by Underwriter Laboratories Inc. and comply with National
Fire Protection Association Standard 72 for local fire protection systems.
The housing shall be 18 gauge sheet steel and shall have a hinged cover that is provided with a key lock. The
finish shall be a textured enamel.
A combination power supply/battery charger shall be provided a * s a part of the control. Adequate space shall be
provided for standby batteries that. are capable of operating the system for 24 hours. All circuits that are pow-
ered from this control panel shall meet Underwriter Laboratories Inc. requirements for power limited circuits. A
separate battery cabinet shall be available if larger batteries are required.
A signal initiating device circuit with a capacity of IS-100uA two wire detectors and a signal indicating device
rated at 1 ampere shall be provided. Regulated 24VDC rated at 2SOmA shall be available for the operation of 4
wire detectors or other auxiliary devices. The end -of -line resistor assemblies shall be interchangeable.
The following visual indicators shall be visible with the door closed: AC on - green LED, Alarm - red LED, Bell
Silenced - yellow LED, and System Trouble - yellow LED. A built in Trouble Buzzer shall also be provided.
The units shall contain the following control switches: a common, momentary type silence switch that silences
the alarm indicating devices and the trouble buzzer. Operating this switch shall cause the silence LED to come
on if the panel is in the alarm condition, or the trouble relay contacts to restore if the panel is in a trouble con-
dition; a "One man walk test" switch that disables the latching feature of the panel; a reset switch that restores
the panel to normal after the initiating device circuit has been cleared; and a test switch that causes all the
devices in the signal indicating device circuit to operate.
One set of form "C" (SPDT) auxiliary alarm contacts and one set of form "A" (SPST - N.O.) auxiliary trouble
contacts, rated 2 amperes at 30 volts, shall be provided.

# DESCRIPTION
Federal Signal Model 450E Electronic Horn produces a
loud, distinctive, recognizable audible signal using a high
efficiency piezo. The horn's high efficiency electronic
circuitry is enclosed in a red orwhite high impact plastic re-
entrant style housing. Model 450E horns operate on 12 or
24VDC and are polarized for connection to supervised
alarm circuits. Model 450E horn/strobe units operate on
24VDC. The horns are designed to operate at a low
current draw with standard dB sound output or can be
adjusted via a jumper for maximum dB sound output.
When visual signaling is required, the Model 450E horn
may be ordered with a Visalertlm V1 971 strobe light which
meets UL 1971 and ADA requirements.
APPLICATION
Model 450E Electronic Horns are well suited for areas
where high sound output and low current draw are a
consideration. The compact design, vandal resistant
housing and wide range of mounting options permit the
horn to f It most any application. The horn can be indoor or
outdoor (with WPBR back box and trim ring, non -strobe
unit) mounted with appropriate mounting accessories.

MODEL 450E ELECTRONIC HORN & HORN/STROBE
SPECIFICATIONS
Alarm indicating appliances shall be electronic horns. The
horns shall produce a distinctive, recognizable fire evacua-
tion signal. The 450E horns shall operate from 9-31VDC
and be polarized for connection to supervised alarm cir-
cuits. The horn mechanism shall be housed in a high impact
red or white plastic housing with a vandal resistant grill. The
horns shall be capable of surface, semi -flush, flush, or
outdoor mounting when used with the appropriate mounting
accessories. The horns shall have terminals for field wiring
connections. An optional strobe light shall be capable of
being mounted to the front of the horns. The horns shall
produce a maximum UL Sound Pressure Level at 10 feet of
91dB(A). The horns shall be UL Listed for fire alarm
signaling use. Horns shall be Federal Signal Model 450E
Electronic Horn.
(OPTIONAL) The strobe lights shall be mounted to the front
surface of the horns. The strobe lights shall use a xenon
flashtube with solid state circuitry. The strobe lights shall
comply with LIL 1971 Standard for Signaling Devices for the
Hearing Impaired. The strobe lights shall be UL Rated at 15,
40/75*, and 110 candela with a flash rate of 1/3Hz (20fpm)
or 1Hz (60fpm). The strobe lights shall have red FIRE
lettering. The strobe lights may be operated independently
(field installed) or simultaneously (factory installed) with the
horns. Horn/strobes shall be Federal Signal Model 450E
with Model V1971 strobe lights.
40/75 strobe available in 1 Hz flash rate only and exceeds 75 candela for
ADAapplications.
