Good afternoon Ms Thompson,
Thank you for taking the time to speak to me this afternoon regarding the issues at your condominium
specifically the status of your Fire Alarm System.
A brief summary of what we discussed:
0 Remove non -conforming bags covering the dryer vents.
0 Confirm that all emergency exit lights are operational through out the building
0 Unlock the egress gate on the North East side of the building
Fire-Allarin
Your FACP (Fire Alarm Control Panel) is indicating a fault and is silenced. This may indicate that
your fire alarm is in "trouble" and is not currently operational. This needs immediate attention. I
believe that you stated that you will be contacting Cintas for alarm service. Until your fire alarm is
confirmed to be operational by a technician you need to post a Fire Watch. A fire watch consists of
the following:

Snohomish County Fire District One and the Snohomish County Fire Marshals office have prepared the
following information to assist in clarifying the requirements and responsibilities of maintaining a continuous
and systematic surveillance of a building.
FIRE WATCH REQ UIREMEN TS
A fire watch will be required to be maintained whenever a fire alarm system andlor sprinkler system has been
identified as in either in "trouble" status or the system has been shut down. The fire code specifically requires
that fire alarms and sprinkler systems be maintained as they were installed for protection of human lives and to
minimize property damage in the event of a fire (NFPA 72 and NFPA 101).
OWNER RESPONSIBILITY
. Immediately contact the alarm company to have the alarm repaired. The name and phone number of the
alarm company J . s on the annual inspection report or it can usually be located on the service tag on the alarm
panel and sprinkler riser.
- Notify the tenants in the building that the fire alarm andlor sprinkler system is being repaired and in the
event of a fire to call 911. If tenants are not at home place, notices need to be placed on the doors explaining
what the situation is and what to do while the alarm andlor sprinkler system is being re-established.
Immediately start a fire watch. The frequency of the fire watch shall be based on the type of occupancy.-
* Institutional, assembly, or education occupancy shall be conducted on a continuous schedule and not to
exceed more than 15 minutes between inspections.
Hotel, motel, alartment and condominium occupancies, shall be conducted no less than every. 60 minutes.
- A written log needs to be maintained of the fire watch activities. This log should include the date, time and
names of the person or persons conducting the fire watch.
Once the alarm andlor sprinkler system has been restored call (425) 775-7720 and leave a voicemail
message. Include contact information and the Deputy Fire Marshal will make contact as soon as possible.
Obtain the report from the person that repaired the alarm system andlor sprinkler system, stating that the alarm
andlor sprinkler system has been fully restored.

General Information
The Kidde Automated Systems KAS-
200 is a self -contained fire alarm system
with a basic capability of two input detec-
tion zones (Class A or B) and one common
alarm Class B output zone. The system is
expandable by the addition of optional
snap -in zone boards and other auxiliary
function boards.
By using four zone boards, the system
can be expanded to 38 zones (Class B)
and to 20 zones if Class A two zone boards
are used. A compliment of over 15 ' optional
function boards give the KAS-200 a great
amount of flexibility to meet most applica-
tions. The KAS-200 can provide: ring -by -
zone or group of zones, audio paging
evacuation, sprinkler supervisory moni-
toring, mastercoder, remote signal trans-
mission by (1) city box connection, (2)
telephone lines (dedicated) and (3) by
digital dialer.
The system provides for alarm
resound in the event of subsequent alarm
conditions and an audible ringback type

trouble sounder A remote annunciator out-
put is provided for each detection zone.
All audible alarm output circuits are super-
vised for open and short circuit conditions.
A short circuit will cause the panel to inhibit
or disconnect that output until the short has
been removed. The battery is supervised
for six different trouble conditions, to ensure
reliability. Circuits monitoring sprinkler
waterflow switches can be field program-
mable to be non-silenceable as required
by LIL Standard 864.
The KAS-200 System provides the
capabilities of complying with the newest
NFPA requirements for "sprinkler super-
visory" conditions and for supervision of
auxiliary control functions required by the
Life Safety Code 101.
NOTES:
1. The NFPA Life Safety Code 101 (1985)
para. 7-6.5.5 requires supervised con-
trol circuits for fans, dampers, etc.
NFPA Code 72A (1985) paras. 3-5.1 to
3-5.4.6 regarding distinctive signals for
sprinkler supervisory devices. See also
NFPA 72 Committee Formal Interpreta-
tions (FI) #3610 (June 1974), Fl 85-9 and
Fl 85-10. FI 3610 indicates that supervi-
sory devices are not permitted on the
same circuit as waterflow alarm swit-
ches. FI 85-9 and 85-10 indicate that
supervisory conditions are to be distinc-
tively different from system or circuit
trouble conditions and that an audible
supervisory signal must be capable of
resounding in a multi -zone system.

System Power Supply/Battery Charger
. The KAS-200 has a modular, regu-
lated power supply capable of providing
2.75 Amps (4 Amps optional) at 24VDC
from a 120VAC input at 3 Amps. State-of-
the-art switching circuitry increases system
reliability and provides constant current
limiting for both system and battery protec-
tion. An overload will automatically discon-
nect the output current until such condition
is corrected.
The system incorporates "brown -out"
detection in the event of low or total AC
power loss. The system transfers to battery
power when AC voltage drops below a
preset limit and then automatically transf
back to normal AC operation upon restora-
tion of AC power
During AC operation, the system
provides battery charging current at a
constant potential charge rate to maintain
battery level at 27.6V The battery circuit
is fully supervised for low voltage, over-
charge, shorts, defective cells, terminal
lead reversal and disconnection. The
charger output is self-adjusting from high
charge to trickle rate depending on battery
level.
The system incorporates a ground
fault monitoring circuit which activates an
LED indicator should the current from the
system negative, 24VDC or logic voltage
circuitry exceed 5mA to ground.
A battery/power supply fault (trouble)
output (-), 120mA maximum, is provided
for connection to the DD8 dialer
The power supply/battery charger
board has provisions for optional battery
voltage and charging current plug-in
meters.

- Identical supervision and protection
features as the standard 2.75A unit. Dual
primary transformer can be tapped for
either 120 or 240VAC. A 1,500 volt isolating
shield provides additional protection.
Voltmeter - Provides an analog indication
of battery voltage status. Unit plugs into
power supply/battery charger board.

of battery current. Unit plugs into power

System Common Control Board
The system common control board
provides the common logic circuitry for
the system and, in addition, provides the
,following features:
System Reset - Interrupts power to reset
alarms and detectors. Momentary switch.

alarms and activates alarm silenced LED.

System Fault Silence - Silences fault
buzzer and activates fault silenced LED.
Two -position switch. Fault buzzer resounds
(ringback) after all faults have been cleared
to indicate the switch must be restored to
its normal position.
System Lamp Test - Illuminates all
system LEDs. Momentary switch.
Alarm Output Circuit - A Class B alarm
circuit which activates for any alarm condi-
tion and for subsequent alarms from other
zones, even if previous alarms have been
silenced. Uses polarized devices. Rated for
1.5A max.
Auxiliary Alarm Relay - A Form C dry
contact transfers on any alarm condition
and remains latched until reset. Rated for
3A (resistive).
Auxiliary Fault Relay - A Form C dry
contact transfers for any fault condition and
remains latched until reset. Rated for 3A
(resistive).
Auxiliary Power -Two terminals provide
+ 24VDC power for auxiliary purposes
such as 4-wire detectors. One is switched
(interrupted by the reset switch) and one is
constant (unswitched).
Initiating Zones -Two alarm initiating
zones are provided. Both are Class 8 and
can be converted to Class A operation by
insertion of a relay into a socket.
Remote Annunciation - Each initiating
zone is provided with an output (system
negative) which is activate ' d when the
respective zone is in alarm. Rated for

The M-200, Part Number 975189,
provides a complete system with a 2.75A
power supply, two zones of detection (A or
B), common control board, alarm output
circuit (Class B), alarm and trouble auxiliary
dry contacts. Space is provided for batteries
up to 8AH size and for the addition of one
other board such as a 2/4 zone board or
a city box/reverse polarity transmitter
(CCX + CBT or CCX + RPT). Enclosure
is for surface mounting. Dimensions are
18"H x 16.5"W x 3.8"D.
The KAS-200 is supplied with two part
numbers. P/N 975760 provides a 2.75A
power supply. P/N 975761 provides a
4.OA power supply. Both panels have a
trim ring flange that allows the box to be
flush mounted between 16" wall studs.
The mounting rail provides space for 3
expansion boards and for batteries up to
10AH size. The expansion boards can be
of any type such as 2ZX or 4ZX/4ZXD zone
boards, city box or reverse polarity
transmitter (CCX + CBT or CCX + RPT),
4RC/1ORC relay boards, etc. Enclosure
dimensions are 14.5"W x 24.8"H x 4.25"D
for the backbox and 16.0"W x 26.5"H
including the flange.
The largest KAS-200 panel is supplied
with two part numbers P/N 975856 pro-
vides a 2.75A power supply. P/N 975857
ptovides a 4.OA power supply. Both panels
have space for mounting a second power
supply of either size (full supervision of
both).
The back wall of the box is a remov-
able mounting plate so that the electronics
can be stored during long periods on a job
site. Two mounting rails are provided. The
righthand rail provides space for 9 stand-
ard size boards (3'H x 7 " W) such as the
2ZX or 4ZX/4ZXD zone boards., The left-
hand rail provides space for 6 standard
size boards usually of the type that do not
require annunciation ol LEDs such as 4RC/
1ORC relays, AU360 amplifier, DD8 digital
dialer, AAC audible alarm/control boat ds,
or a second power supply.
Enclosure dimensions are 22.5"W x
46.0"H x 5.25"D. Designed for surface
mounting with an optional semi -flush trim
ring kit (P/N 910248).

Model 2ZX Zone Expansion Board pro-
viries; two Class B/A (initiating) detection
zones. Both zones convert to Class A
operation by inserting the Model AOP relay
into the provided socket. Both zones pro-
vide a latching alarm output (-) which can
be used to activate a remote annunciator
and for internal connections to other
boards such as the AAC, 4RC, 1ORC,
DD8, etc. (120mA max). Alarm and fault
LEDs are provided (red and yellow) for
each zone. The 2ZX is a standard size
board, 3 " H x 7'W

low) are provided for each zone. A latching
alarm output (-) is provided for each zone
which can be used to activate a remote
annunciator and for internal connections to
other boards such as the AAC, 4RC, 1ORC,*
DD8, etc. (120mA max). The 4ZX is a
standard size board, 3 " H x VW.
Model 4ZXD Zone Expansion Board is
identical to the 4ZX board with the following
addition. Each zone is provided with a super-
vised disconnect switch. The disconnect
switches are of the "walk -test'' type, so that
the zone will remain or go into alarm, but
the signal is not transferred to the system
alarm bus. The red alarm LED will be lit. A
disconnected zone will cause a system
fault and light a "disconnected" LED.
Model AOP Class A Plug-in Relays are
used in the sockets provided on the com-
mon control board and the 2ZX board to
convert input circuits to Class A operation.
Model 1ORC Auxiliary Relay Board pro-
vides 10 SPST, Form A (normally open)
contacts rated for 1 A at 28VDC and 0.5A
at 120VAC resistive. All relay coils are
supervised for open conditions, have
diode suppression, and each has a red
LED to indicate status. A master discon-
nect switch prevents activation of all relays
during service and testing. Each relay coil
is individually addressable by a negative
(-) input from a zone or group of zones.
Two of the relays can be converted to Form
B (normally closed) operation by culting a
jumper wire. The I ORC is a standard size
board, 3'H x 7"W.
Model 4RC Auxiliary Relay Board pro-
vides 4 SPDT Form C contacts, rated for
3A at 28VDC or 120VAC resistive.The
relay coils are individually addressable by
a negative (-) input from a zone or group
of zones. Standard size board.
Model AAC Audible Alarm/Control
Board (formerly AAX) two field program-
mable supervised output cot itrol circuits.
The circuits can be wired either as Class A
or B and are rated for a 3A load at 24VDC.
The AAC board provides a socket for
mounting a city box (CBT), reverse polarity
(RPT) or mastercoder (MC3) daughter -
board. When used as an alarm signaling
(indicating) circuit(s), the AAC uses polar-
ized bells, horns or horn/strobes. When
used as an auxiliary control circuit for fans,
dampers, motors, elevators, etc., the AAC
uses polarized relays. Note that NFPA 101
Life Safety Code requires that auxiliary
control functions be supervised. The AAC
is programmable for latch i ng/non-latch i ng
and silenceable/non-silenceable operation.
The circuits are programmable for activa-
tion by common alarm from the system
bus, for selective activation.such as ring -
by -zone or a group of zones. The AAC is a
standard size board, 3 " H x 7"W, and can
be mounted on the main mounting rail of
any enclosure or on the lefthand rail of the
large panel (using the BBI cable).
Model CBT City Box Transmitter pro-
vides a local energy connection to a stand-
ard municipal transmitter (coded). The CBT
mounts into a socket provided on the AAC
board or on the CCX board. Activation of
the CBT can be by the system bus (com-
mon alarm) or from an input (system neg-
ative) from a zone or group of zones. A
disconnect switch is provided with a "dis-
connected LED.'' The system fault buzzer
sounds while the disconnect switch is acti-
vated. A red LED indicates that the city box
coil has been tripped and a yellow LED will
be lit and the system fault buzzer will sound
until the city box circuit has been restored
to normal (closed).

receiving station. The RPT mounts on a
socket provided on the AAC board or on
the CCX board. The RPT transmits both
alarm and fault (trouble) conditions. Activa-
tion of the RPT can be by the system bus
or an input (system negative) from a zone
or group of zones. A disconnect switch is
provided along with a "disconnected
LED:' which activates the syste�rn fault buz-
zer. A red LED indicates that the transmitter
has been activated and a yellow fault LED
indicates a problem in the telephone circuit.
Model MC3 Mastercode Module can be
field programmed to provide a distinctive
sound pattern on the audible alarm
devices. The module has a 15 pole dip -
switch which can be programmed to be
open or closed, thereby creating different
pulsed signals on the alarm output circuit.
The MC3 can be installed into the socket
provided on the AAC or CCX boards. An
adjustable timer allows variations in the
pulse rate from 1 /10 second to 10 seconds.
The module can be programmed to pro-
duce the uniform temporal Code 3 evacua-
tion signal recommended by the NFPA
72A Code, Appendix A, or.other signals
such as 4-4-4. The signal generated by the
MC3 can only be used to pulse the AAC
circuits, and it does not pulse the alarm
output circuit on the common control board.
Model CCX is a motherboard for mounting
the city box or reverse polarity transmitter
boards when these are not used in the AAC
board or if a system requires two tr ' ansmit-
ters. Note that the CCX is a standard size
board, WH x 7 "W, and that the RPT CBT
and MC3 boards are claughterboards
which require either a CCX or AAC board.
Model SSM Sprinkler Supervisory
Monitoring Board provides two dedi-
cated circuits for sprinkler system supervi-
sory (tamper) devices such as OS&Y valve
tamper switches, pressure switches, post
indicator valve switches, low temperature/
freeze switches, etc., which indicate an
impairment of the sprinkler system. A clo-
sure of a monitoring device contact causes
an amber LED to flash indicating a super-

Each circuit has two outputs (-). One
output drives a remote annunciator and
remains active as long as the monitoring
device contacts are closed. The other out-
put is controlled by an "ACKNOWLEDGE"
switch and drives a dedicated ''Supervi-
sory Alert" circuit (such as a ''sprinkler
supervisory" bell) which can be silenced
if the condition prevails for long periods.
When the supervisory condition has been
acknowledged (or silenced), the flashing
LED remains on but in a steady mode. The
SSM is a standard size board, 3"H x 7"W.
Model AU360 Tone Alarm/Voice Evacu-
ation Amplifier is a very desirable alterna-
tive capability f rom a fire alarm signal.
Instead of sounding bells or horns which
convey no distinct or intelligible message
to the average person, with the AU360 a
distinctive slow -whoop siren sound and
voice instructions help to control the emer-
gency better and help the occupants evac-
uate in a more controlled, safer manner.
The AU360 provides a tone generator,
microphone and a 20 watt output amplifier
specifically tested by U L for fire alarm
applications. The AU360 provides common
alarm and paging to a supervised speaker
circuit (25V line) which can be wired as
Class A or B. The AU360 and microphone
mount inside the largest KAS-200 panel on
the lefthand rail only. It occupies 2 standard
spaces (6"H x 7"W). Multiple amplifiers
can be added for larger projects requiring
more than 20 watts of output. Each 20 watt
amplifier requires a separate bell circuit to
drive it and to supervise the speaker lines.
Optional remote input microphones (key
controlled for security) can be used
so paging can be done from several loca-
tions. See separate data sheet 0200-01 /
1186 for additional details on the AU360.
Standby power is provided by the panel's
batteries. Power consumption is 0.004A in
standby and 1.2A in alarm or while paging.
The microphone can be used without
an alarm present in the system for general
paging purposes, or for specified pur-
poses such as medical alerts, accidents,
tornado/weather alerts, security, shift
changes, etc.
Model DD8 Digital Dialer Board is a
microprocessor controlled transmitter/
communicator that transmits 8 conditions
(alarms or supervisory), system faults
(trouble) and restoral of conditions to nor-
mal. The DD8 digital dialer is specifically
designed and UL tested for fire alarm
applications. It uses the normal telephone
network for transmitting to a UL Listed
central station and requires access to two
(redundant) telephone lines. The DD8
provides unique and exceptional features
as standard:
• Programmable automatic daily test trans-
mission, plus manual test transmission

• Dual telephone line monitoring; line
seizure; rotary or touch-tone dialing
• Three transmission formats geared to the
most popular digital receivers; Silent
Knight FSK; Radionics Hex; Ademco

destinations) with up to 15 dialing tries
The DD8 is a double sized board,
6"H x 7"W, occupies 2 spaces and can be
mounted on either rail of a KAS-200 panel.
Model 2APS/4APS Auxiliary Power
Supplies are used to provide additional
power for larger systems. The 2APS
(2.75A) and 4APS (4.OA) are identical to
the basic panel power supplies except that
provisions are made for the supervision of
the second power supply. Two sets of bat-
teries are not required as the two power
supplies are wired in parallel. Both power
supplies are double sized boards, 6 " H x
7"W, and can be mounted only on the left
rail of the largest KAS-200 enclosure.
Provisions are made for mounting of the
second transformer.
Model BBI Bus -To -Bus Interconnect
Cable is used in the Inmr, KAS-200 panels
to transfer signals to CCX and AAC boards
it they are mounted on the left rail.

VAM
Model PR-1 and PR-2 Control Relays
are used to control remotely located equip-
ment (fans, motors, dampers, etc.) on a
supervised control circuit provided by the
AAC board. The relays are polarized for
supervision. The AAC board must be confi-
gured as per the manual instructions to
operate as a control circuit instead of an
audible output circuit for bells/horns. The
PR-1 provides an SPDT Form C relay rated
at 10A (120/240VAC). The relay draws
50mA when activated. The PR-1 fits on any
standard single -gang backbox, surface or
flush. A red LED shows through the face-
plate to indicate the relay is activated. The
PR-2 control relay provides two SPIDT
Form C relays rated at 10A (120/240VAC).
Each coil draws 50mA when activated.
The PR-2 mounts to any standard two -
gang backbox, surface or flush. Two red
LEDs show through the faceplate to indi-
cate the relays are activated.
Model RA-4, RA-10 and RA-20 Remote
Annunicators provide 4, 10 and 20 zones
of annunciation respectively. Each annun-
ciator has a larnp test switch, buzzer,
silence switch and a "silenced'' LED. The
buzzer can sound for trouble or for alarm
and trouble. Wiring to the annunciators is
18 gauge: one conductor for each active
zone and one conductor (+ 28V), common
negative, system trouble (-) and system
alarm (-). The input to the zone LEDs is a
negative (-) pullclown from any zone in the
control panel. Each LED is provided with a
dropping resistor.
The RA-4 mounts on any standard two -
gang surface or flush backbox. The RA-10
and RA-20 mount on any standard four -
gang surface or flush backbox mounted
long side up (vertically). All annunciators
are UL Listed. NOTE: When operating
(driving) both annunciators and other
devices (such as the 4RC or 1ORC auxiliary
relay boards or the AAC alarm/control
board) from the same zone pulldown, the
other device (4RC, 1ORC or AAC) must
have an isolation (blocking) diode installed
on the coil input to prevent activation
during lamp testing of the annunciator

The Kidde Automated Systems man-
ual pull stations are intended to complete
the automatic detection circuitry by manual
operation. These units come in either single
or dual action. The single action pull station,
type FM950E, is provided with a terminal
block for wiring connections with SPST,
N.O. contacts.
The manual pull stations are made of
extruded aluminum and their rectangular
low profile state of the art design blends in
with modern day architecture decor, which
can be semi-f lush mounted on a single gang
box. Operation instructions are clearly labeled
on the face of the units in raised letters.

Operation
The single action manual station pro-
vides circuit activation by simply pulling
down the door
The double action manual station pro-
vides circuit activation by first lifting up the
guard insert, then pulling down the door
Resetting of the station is very easily
accomplished by use of a screwdriver blade.
When operated, the station door
hangs down in a vertical position and is
readily identifiable from a distance. There
is no glass to replace in order to restore the
station to normal.
The FM950KE station is the same as
the FM950E with the addition of a key oper-
ated switch mounted behind the door The
switch provides a separate set of SPST
contacts.
A double action adapter (FM150GE)
can be inserted into a grooved track inside
the unit. With FM 1 50GE in place, the opera-
tor must first lift up the handle and then pull
down the door to activate the alarm system.

Thermostats are used to detect the presence of excessive heat and are therefore slower to react to fires than smoke
detectors. Generally used in addition to smoke detectors in fire alarm systems, thermostats are not a substitute for
smoke detectors. In residential applications, thermostats are usually ceiling mounted in each room, garage, attic,
boiler room, storage area, etc. Use this chad to select the Thermostat which is correct for your application.

The No. 501 and No. 501A Combina-
tion Rate-of-Rise/Fixed Temperature
Thermostats are UL Listed for protec-
ting spaces of 50' x 50' (or 2500 square
feet) —and FM approved for protecting
spaces of 30' x 30' (900 square feet).
They will initiate an alarm signal when
a fixed temperature is reached: 1350 for
the No. 501, 1900 for the No. 501A. In
addition, since many fires grow rapidly
in intensity, resulting. in fast rising tern-
peratures, the No. 501 and No. 501A are
designed to sense and respond to any
increase in temperature which is ab-
normally fast.
Rate -of -Rise Thermostats should not be
tested with a match since this will neces-
sitate repla cing the unit. When tripped by
rapid temperature increases, these ther-
mostats will reset themselves as long as
the fixed setting has not been reached.
The Nos. 502, 503, 504 and 505 1-her-
mostats are compact and attractive. The
streamlined design is extremely effi--

Thermostats project a mere 1-3/8" from
the ceiling. Their smooth, pleasing con-
tours and all -white finish make them at-
tractive in any setting.
The thermostats feature a field -proven
pneumatic rate -of -rise element and a
fixed temperature element with a special
fusible alloy unsurpassed for long term
stability and reliability. They also incor-
porate an external heat collector that
drops away when the alloy fuses, pro-
viding unmistakable visual indication
cient, resulting in fast response to fire.
The four terminals provided on each ther-
mostat make parallel wiring simple
since no more than one wire is fastened
to any terminal post. The gold flashed
electrical contacts are completely en-
closed, preventing malfunction from dust
and moisture in the air. The 1350 ther-
mostats are ideal forpormal room use. Use
the 1900 thermostats where ambient
temperatures exceed 1000F, such as in
attics, boiler rooms and hot kitchens.
Note: The No. 503 and No. 505 Thermo-
stats are "normally closed" and are rec-
ommended only for special circuits. To
use thermostats on burglar alarm sys-
tems, we recommend No. 502 and No.
504 thermostats wired across the protec-
tive circuit to provide a closure upon ac-
tivation.

The detector attaches to the mounting
plate with a simple push and twist mo-
tion. It can be detached with the same
motion in reverse.
The mounting plate is molded of white
self -extinguishing thermoplastic, rated at

The Nos. 631 and 634 Series
Photoelectric Smoke Detectors are
designed to be more responsive to a
broader range of fires and at the
same time offer maximum stability.
They're compact, attractive and easy
to install.
These detectors operate on the light
scattering principle and feature a
unique photo optic sensing chamber
that provides good smoke entry while
minimizing the effects of ambient
light. Its carefully designed geometry
maximizes signal strength and signal-
to-noise ratio. This sensing chamber
is more responsive to fast flaming
fires (the most difficult for photoelec-
tric detectors) than the chambers
used in most competitive units. It
can, therefore, be set less sensitive
and further from the threshold of
alarm than most competitive de.tec-
tors. -
This combination of high signal-to-
noise ratio and stable sensitivity set-
ting gives the detector remarkable
stability over a wide range of environ-
mental conditions. The detector also
has a custom integrated circuit that
uses signal processing for alarm
verification. In standby mode, the
units have an infrared LED which

pulses once every eight seconds.
When smoke is detected this sam-
pling rate accelerates to once per
second. Two successive samplings
are required before the detector ran
alarm, which significantly increases
its immunity to nuisance alarms.
No. 631 Series detectors are de-
signed for use with four or six wire
control panels, and are available in
6, 12 and 24 volt models. Thermal
versions incorporating. 135 degree
fixed temperature thermostats are
also available. Power to the No. 631
Series detector can be supervised
with the No. 633 Series end -of -line
relay modules, available in 6, 12
and 24 volt models.
No. 634 Series detectors are de-
signed for use with two wire, 12 or
24 VDC control panels. A thermal
version incorporating a 135 degree
fixed temperature thermostat is also
available. Power to the. No. 634
Series detector is regulated with a
solid state voltage regulator, so it
remains sensitive throughout its 10
to 32 D.C. volt range.
Both detectors are pre-set at the
factory, eliminating field adjustments.
Both incorporate a testing capability
which does not require sophisticated
