Meeting was called to order at 7:30 PH by Chairman McConnachie.
Z
Mr. Scholes stated that he did not feel that the elimination of the grease
interceptors was a hazard. In fact, he takes more of them out than he in-

stalls. He commented that with the detergents that are used it helps to

eliminate any trouble and leaves only a small film to be disposed of in
the sewer lines. Cost of installation is about $400.00.

Mr. Whitcutt stated that he was in sympathy with Mr. Scholes but with a memo

from the Engineering Department he did not feel that he could eliminate this

without a hearing before the Board. Section 711 of the Uniform Plumbing Code

states that the administrative authority (in this case the City) has the
authority to require an interceptor if in their judgment it is necessary
and the engineering memo is that authority.

The Building Official had checked with Lynnwood and Kirkland and they do

not require the installation of the grease interceptor.

Discussion followed with questions from the Board to Mr. Scholes. Mr. Albers
made a motion to eliminate the grease interceptor on this project since other

restaurants in the City do not have them and for the Engineering Department,
Public Works and Building Department to make a study to determine the necessity
of this item. Motion was seconded by Walt Payne and it carried.
Mr. Scholes left the meeting at this point.
Discussion of the fire zone ensued.
Meeting adjourned at 8:15.
