Smoke gaskets is "weather stripping" installed to restrict the
passage of smoke. Labeled and rated doors are designed to resist
fire and hose streams and to restrict the passage of smoke. They
are expected to be closed and remain closed at the time of a fire.
The required self -closing may be provided by installing U.L. rated
spring loaded hinges.
These requirements apply to all multi -family occupancies to
provide a safe exit for a reasonably length of time in the event of
a fire anywhere in the building. .
This letter and a special note has been added to the file to
inform future inspector of your special condition.
