He needs FA permit for swapping old for new, because the FACP is the heart and mind of the system, we also need go
inspect and accept.
in this case, he'll add a smoke above the FACP because there was none and required to "protect" the panel.
Additionally, although a small system (S heats, 1 smoke, 4 pull stations), the new panel provides "re-scopeso he'll need
to provide monitoring for the alarm as well.

AIP control panels are for use in buildings that
require a supervised, zoned fire alarm system. The
surface mounted cabinets have a cream finish, and
are attractively styled to blend with any decor. The
panelsare U.L. listed, and meetorexceed all perform-
ance and operational requirements of U.L. Standard
864 and N.F.P.A. Standards 72A, 72B, and 72C.
The panel is supplied complete with back box,
removable hinged door, control switches, indicator
lamps, and primary power supply.

OPERATION
There are three modes of operation In an electrically
supervised Fire Alarm Control Panel:
1. SUPERVISORY MODE —This is the normal mode
of operation. All power to the system is turned on. The
POWER -ON lamp is lit. No alarms are in progress.
The trouble signal is silent, and the TROUBLE lamp is
off.
2. ALARM MODE — Operation of any initiating
device will cause the alarms signals to sound. Alarm
tone sounds at the panel. A red zone lamp illuminates
atthepanel, indicating the location (zone)fromwhich
the alarm originated.
3. TROUBLE MODE — When a fault, such as open
develops in the initiating circuit, or an open or short
develops in the signaling circuit, the system trouble
tone pulses, the system common trouble lamp illumi-
nates, and the common trouble contacts operate.
WHEN MAIN POWER FAILURE OCCURS, the sys-
tem automatically transfers to standby battery power,
the common trouble lamp illuminates, the tone pulses,
and the POWER ON lamp extinguishes.

GENERAL
The mechanical design of Models AFB-6 and AFB-10 Fire
Alarm bells employs a single electromechanical assembly
for both sizes, permitting the substitution of one gong shell
size for another If demanded by changes in ambient noise
levels. 06ng shells are manufactured from carefully selected
material to providea loud,resonant tone, and the continuous -
duty rated mechanism is mounted in a tough enclosed
housing to prevent impairment through dust accumulation.
The gong shells are finished in vermillion red baked enamel,
their under -dome design requiring a minimum of depth
when flush mounted, and providing a more attractive
appearance when surface mounted.
APPLICATION
These bells are designed for installation in areas of normal
occupational ambient noise levels, but the proper size must
be selected to ensure audibility over the ambient noise level
expected. The following guidelines are acceptable to most
fire prevention authorities.
In institutions,or wheresleeping accommodation is provided,
bells must be of minimum 6 inches in diameter, with no
area served by the ala.rm at a greater distance than 35 feet
from the bell. In business and commercial structures with
open areas of average noise level, one 6-inch bell is required
per 5,500 square feet of floor area, and one 10-inch bell per
10,000 square feet.

CHARACTERISTICS
The Model AFB-6 has a 6-inch diameter gong and a heavy
duty polarized vibrating typo mochnnism. Its SOLold 01111)111
is 91 db at 10 feet. The Model AFB-10 is similar in all re-
spects, except that it has a 10-inch diameter gong and a
sound output of 96 db at 10 feet. Both bells operate f rom
24VDC and draw 65 mA.

Consists of 24VDC vibrating horn mounted with 24VDC
Arobe light. The strobe light, using a xenon flashtube, has a

of 8000 candlepower. The assembly is sealed in silicone and
protected by a white, translucent, Lexan lens marked FIRE.

Model 242010 uses a piezoelectric transducer to provide a
loud 93clb at 3 feet, with 24VDC applied power, sufficient
intensity for fire alarm use in small areas such as private
homes, motel rooms, apartments etc. It will opeiato ovor a
wide range of voltages,from about 4VDC to 24VDC, drawing
only 20mA of current at the upper voltage level. Reliability
is inherent through its solid state circuit design, and the use
of a stainless steel, single -gang mounting plate in its con-
structiori 'simplifies installation. The recommended range
of operating temperature is . from -250C to +700C.

This series of EDWARDS Heat Detectors provides
high quality, reliability, and the ultimate in design and
decor. The low silhouette and pure white finish blend
with practically all ceiling designs to provide an un-
obtrusive unit.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Independent studies indicate
that Heat Detectors should b4 used when property -

The Heat Detector is available with either a metal or
a white plastic mounting plate. The metal plate can
be used for either flush or surface mounting whereas
the plastic plate is designed specifically for surface
mounting of the detector. The plastic plate mold in-
cludes the white skirt which covers the space be-
tween detector base and.the mounting surface.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The rate -of -rise feature on.heat
detectors may be subject to reduced sensitivity over
time. Therefore, the manufacturer recommends test-
ing the rate-ot-rise feature at least once per year by
qualified fire protection specialists.
Contact ratings on all models are 3 amps @ 6 to 125
VAC, 1.0 amps @ 6 to 28 VDC, 0.3 amps @ 125 VDC,
and .01 amps @ 250 VDC.
