I have been approached by Gordon Henrikson, who is constructing
the A & P MarKet at Fifth Avenue.South and Howell Way, to participate in
the construction of an eight -inch C.I. water main on Howell Way and connecting
with Third Avenue South. I am enclosing a sketch of this proposed construction.
The suggestion I made to Gordon Henrikson was that they purchase
the materials and the City of Edmonds would install the water main, due to
the benefit the city would derive from this construction. I felt that this
would be reasonable participation on our part.
Let me know what the decision is on this after you have presented
it to the Mayor and ail. others concerned.

The Planning Department has reviewed your proposed plot plan and
requests *that the following revisions be made in. accordance with
Section 12 .14 ' .020 H of the Edmonds Zoning Ordinance, a copy of
which is attached:
1. A 5-ft. wide planting area should be establishe ' d on the north,
east, and west sides of the parking area east of the building.
The attached sketch has been drawn to illustrate that these
planting areas can be established without losing any parking
spaces. We suggest that these planting areas contain a variety
of low evergreen shrubs, ground cover, and a small number of
flowering trees.
2.
Six street trees should be planted in the street planting area
along the 'south side of the site as shown on the attached sketch.
No trees need to be planted on the front of the prop�!rty, as
they would*probably obscure the view of the store and the free-
standing'sign on the front property line. For a good street
tree, vie suggest.Sunburst Honey Locust or similar type of medium
height tree.

SCOPE OF WORK
I . Remove existing striping of diagonal parking stalls located immediately south of the
building, (those in the loading aisle only).
2. Saw cut asphalt around concrete slab at south side of building that is in the loading
dock aisle, remove concrete and compact/set gravel base as necessary for new 4"
minimum asphalt infill.
3. Saw cut asphalt in preparation of new concrete landing at new metal stair. Taper
concrete slab to flush out with adjacent asphalt pavement.
4. Set new metal exit stair at loading dock and secure to new concrete slab and face
on loading dock.
