Mr. Duane Bowman:
ASSt. Planning Director
City of Edmonds
250 Fifth Avenue North
Edmonds, WA 98020
Dear Mr. Bowman:
I am a long-term resident of Edmonds, having lived
in Talbot Park for twenty-three years. After selling
my home there, downtown Edmonds was my first choice of
relocation because of the close proximity to businesses,
the waterfront, transportation and friends.
The house I have recently purchaseJ at 622 Bell
Street is sturdily built, however, the interior has not
been updated since its construction in approximately
1952. The original carpet covered the hardwood floors.
In order to make it a "city house" suitable for my own
personal residence altering the interior is imperative.
I also expect to landscape the property attractively,
aint and roof the h ouse, install energy -efficient
windows and properly insulate. None of the proposal
affects load -bearing walls. These improvements will
upgrade the appearance of this area of the city and
prove an asset to my neighbors.
Edmonds is my home and will continue to be for
many years.
Therefore, I submit my request for variance from
the limit of 25% per year of the value of the house to
allow me to alter the interior to make this property
suitable as my personal dwelling and to make my
neighborhood a more attractive place. The value of
the house is stated as $30,000 which would mean that
I could spend only $7,500 to upgrade it.
I will appreciate your careful and thoughtful
consideration of my request.
Sincerely,
778-5454
