General
The IPGSM-4G is a commercial fire alarm communicator that
offers contact ID reporting with any Fire Marm Control Panel
(FACP) that has a built-in dialer. This single or dual path com-
municator connects directly to the primary and secondary
communication ports of a fire panel's Digital Alarm Communi-
cator Transmitter (DACT). It offers three selectable reporting
paths which Include: Cellular only, IP only, or IP primary/cellu-
lar backup. All signals from the IPGSM-40 are delivered to
Honeywell's AlarmNet Network Control Center, which routes
highly encrypted Ethernet data packets via a customer pro-
vided internet connection or cellular network to the appropriate
central station. The state of the art AlarmNet network control
center is fully redundant and monitored 24f7. AlarmNet has
the ability to route messages using AlarmNet-I and 800 PLUS

Alternative communication methods are critical in the market-
place due to VolP (Voice over IP), migration from POTS (Plain
Old Telephone Service) and growth of digital radio networks.
The IPGSM-4G's single path communications solution allows
one technology to be used (Either IP or cellular) to provide the
appropriate connectivity to a central station. For added reliabil-
ity, our exclusive dual path solution allows both technologies
(IP and cellular) to be used together for maximum survivability
or for local Jurisdiction requirements that specify a dual lech-
nology system.
The IPGSM-4G is designed to operate over the most common
cellular networks including 2G,3G and 4G. Its multi. -GSM plat-
form technology automatically chooses the best available cel-
lular signal In the area based on signal strength and
searrilessly seff-adjusts to maintain critical life safety communi-
cation. In addition, It connects to any type of customer pro-
vided Ethernet 10/100 base network connection (LAN or
WAN), DSL model or cable modem. Our selectable reporting
path feature allows the radio to be configured for a single or
dual path solution as well as the appropriate supervision inter-
vals based on NFPA 72 requirements. (See diagram below for
selectable paths and supervision timing intervals.)

Operation
When an event occurs, the Fire Alarm Control Panel goes off
hook to dial the central station. The IPGSM-4G Dialer Capture
Module detects the off -hook condition and provides the fire
panel with a dial tone. When the fire panel detects the dial
tone, it begins dialing the central station. After the dialing is
completed, the Dialer Capture Module returns a handshake to
the fire panel. The fire panel then sends the contact ID reports
to the Dialer Capture Module, which in turn sends a kiss -off
after the report is successfully received from the fire panel.
The Dialer Capture Module sends the contact ID reports to the
IPGSM communications module. When all the reports are
sent, the fire panel goes on -hook. The IPGSM communica-
bons module then transmits the messages to the central sta-
tion either over the GSM network or the Internet (dependent
on configuration).

COUNTER
Easy to Program
The IPGSM-4G communicator can be pre-programmed using
the 7720P programmer to enter all central -station information.
This is saved to the IPGSM-4G communicator panel memory.
When the IPGSM-4G communicator is installed at the site and
connected to the Internettintranet, it registers itself with the
AlarmNet receiver.
Yor most Installations, the only required parameters are:
• Primary City ID (two digits) obtained from your monitoring
station.
• Primary Central Station ID (two digits) obtained from your
monitoring station.
• Primary Subscriber ID (four digits) obtained from your mon-
itoring station.
• Communication Module's MAC ID, and MAC CRC number
located on outside of box, and inside of the module.
All of these parameters are assigned by the monitoring station.
NOTE., Some assembly Is required. See Installation and Setup
Guide #800-12454 for full details.
Fire Communicator Capability
The IPGSM-413 is compatible with fire panels that use the
Contact ID communications format as described in the SIA
DC-05 standard.
AlarmNet
Honeywell's AlarmNet has been the nationwide leader in
alarm oommunicatons technology since 1986. A reliable alter-
native for the transmission of alarm signals, our radio network
provides extensive coverage in the United States and Canada.
AlarmNet Network Control center processes signals from pow-
erful servers in multiple locations equipped with 24f7 infra-
structure support. The AlarmNet network consist of redundant
hardware servers, hot back-up databases and generators with
battery back-up at all locations to ensure continuity of service.
Signals from Alarm -Net are transmitted to the central station's
receivers using multiple communications paths consisting of
the Internet, radio network or toll -free POTS service.
Installation Requirements
UL COMPLIANCE
To meet UL864lNFPA, ensure the following:
IPGSM-4G must be installed in accordance with NFPA
(National Fire Protection Association) standards 70 and 72.
IPGSM-4G must be mounted in the same room and within
20 feet of the fire panel.
IPGSM-4G, and all equipment used for the IP connection
(such as the router, hub, modem, etc.) shall be listed, must
be powered from an un-switched branch circuit, and be pro-
vided with appropriate standby power.
IPGSM-4G must use the 7AH battery (not supplied) to pro-
vide 24-hour backup capability.

Temperature and Humidity Ranges
This system meets NFPA requirements for operation at 0 -
49*C/32 - 120*F and at a relative humidity 93%* 2% RH (non
condensing at 32*C ± 2*C (90*F :t 3*F). However, the useful
life of the system's standby batteries and the electronic com-
ponents may be adversely affected by extreme temperature
ranges and humidity. Therefore, it is recommended that tNs
system and its peripherals be installed in an environment with
a normal room temperature of 15 - 27'C/60 - 80'F.

GENERAL
TheModel RBVS isdesigned to monitor the fully open
position of a ball valve installed in a sprinkler system.
The unit will fit on most ball valves installed on back-
flow-preventers and alarm trim lines ofdry, alarm, and
deluge sprinkler valves. The switch operates if the
ball valve handle is rnovod from the open position. How-
ever, the switch does riot track the position ofthe handle
or ball. When the ball valve handle is in the open position,

-loaded switch button will contact the valve
handle. Whet) the handle is moved from the open position,
this switch button extends to the tripped position, and the
R13VS contacts change state, thereby opening or closing
a cirCUit. A cover tamper switch is available and is
activated by the removal ofthe R6VS housing Cover. Ifan
attempt is made to remove the RBVS by the removal of
the niounting brackets, the unit will beset into the tripped
niode by this action.
The RI3VS can be mounted to the hex portion of the ball
valve or back-flow-preventer or to the adjoining pipe via
two clamps. The RBVS is shipped with two sets of
mounting clamps to accommodate various pipe and
valve sizes, refer to Table 1. An "L" shaped and offset
bracket for mounting the switch enclosure and an exten-
sion bracket add to the mounting flexibility of the RBVS.

9. With the valve handle fully open, slide the RBVS housing
down until the switch operates plus 1/8 inch. Tighten the
screws holding the RBVS to the 'offset" bracket.
10. Remove the RBVS switch enclosure cover.
11. Close and open the valve to verity operation. The actuator
should easily retract up when the valve handle is in the
open position.
12. Fully open the valve.
13. Wire main switch and tamper switch (if applicable). Care-
fully route tamper switch wires through strain relietchannel
in switch enclosure. Fully seat the wires into the bottom of
the channel. See Fig. 1.
14. Replace RBVS switch enclosure cover and securely
tighten cover screw.

FIRE SUPPRESSION COMENTS
General
1. Provide three spare heads of each type of sprinkler head. (One spare for the elevator
pit will be acceptable.) This will require a spare head box capable of holding at least
13 heads (or multiple boxes). Make notation on the plans. NFPA 13R 6.4.1
2. Whereas the water supply comes from a common fire and domestic water line and a
pair of separate shut-off valves are provided for the backflow prevention valve on the
fire line branch, the valves will need to be supervised as per NFPA 13R 6.6.1.2.
Please specify on the plans how this will be met.
3. The domestic water supply shall have it's own separate shut-off valve. Please expand
the riser drawing to show the split between the two systems and the valve arrangement.

The following plan provides life -safety and property protection information for your use. This plan should
be updated periodically. All safety systems and equipment must remain, accessible, conspicuous, and
maintained in proper working order.
Your local emergency phone number is for emergency medical, fire and police services.
Smoke etectors
Smoke detectors in your home provide early warning in case of fire. A working smoke detector can
increase your survival in a fire by 47%. Plan an escape and practice your plan before the fire. Dwelling
smoke detectors are located in and near your sleeping areas. They may be battery -operated, hard -wired
to the building, or both, depending upon building age and existing requirements when your building was
constructed. Dwelling smoke detectors do not sound the alarm for other occupants. When you hear a
detector, sound the alarm for all occupants and exit the building.
MAINTENANCE., Test your detectors by depressing the test button at least once a month. Change the
batteries once a year, if so equipped. Vacuum the face of the detector annually to keep it sensitive to
smoke. Detectors should be replaced after 10 years of operation.
Manual Fire Alarm
Activating a fire alarm pull station will alert all building occupants of a fire problem at a location in the
building. Pull stations are located near exits from the building. Pull the device down to sound the alarm.
When you hear the alarm, exit the building immediately using the closest safe stair or exit.

Automatic Fire Alarm
Smoke and high -rising heat conditions in some building areas outside of your dwelling are monitored by a
smoke- and heat -detection system. If a fire begins in these areas, the automatic fire alarm will alert all
occupants in the building.

Residential Sprinkler System
A residential sprinkler system provides life safety protection from fire in dwelling locations where injury or
death from fire may occur. Residential fire sprinklers will reduce heat, flames and smoke spread so
building occupants may safely exit the building. Sprinklers are heat activated and will open and spray
water directly on a fire. A sprinkler system stops and often extinguishes the fire before it has the chance
to spread.
A fire sprinkler system is a network of individual ceiling sprinkler heads connected by pipes to a water
source. Water damage is minimal because only the sprinkler head above the fire will open. A home with
an automatic sprinkler system is still required to have smoke detectors. Residential sprinkler systems and
installation of working smoke detectors reduce the risk of dying in a fire by 97%. Remind your insurance
agent that you are protected by these systems.

MAINTENANCE. Do not hang items from the sprinkler heads. Sprinkler heads that have been painted will
not operate as designed and must be replaced.

Special Populations at Risk
Decreased mobility, health, sight, and hearing may limit a person's ability to take the quick action
necessary to escape during a fire emergency. Depending on physical limitations, many of the actions an
individual can take to protect themselves from the dangers of fire may require help from a caregiver,
neighbor, or outside source. Impaired persons should speak to family members, building manager, or
neighbors about your fire safety plan and practice it with them.
Special Fire Warning Devices
People with disabilities should be aware of the special fire warning devices that are available but not
necessarily installed in your building. Smoke alarms with vibrating pads or flashing light can be
purchased for the deaf and hard of hearing. Additionally, smoke alarms with strobe light outside the
dwelling may catch the attention of neighbors. Emergency call systems for summoning help are also
commercially sold.
Audible alarms are available which will pause with a small window of silence between each successive
cycle so that blind or visually impaired people can listen to instructions or voices of others.

Exit Lights
Exit lights and signage show the way to get out of the building. Lights must be illuminated at all times
and provided with backup power, which keeps them burning even without building power. Illumination is
required to help penetrate layers of smoke that may form at the ceiling when a fire condition should
occur. This reduces confusion for visitors and occupants who need to find the way out of the building.
MAINTENANCE. Replace bulbs as required to keep illuminated at all times.

Emergency Illumination
Your building must be illuminated at all times by natural or artificial lighting so a visitor or occupant's
means of exiting is always lit. Your building has backup, or emergency lighting to illuminate the exit path
even without building power. Smoke brings darkness to building spaces when a fire condition occurs.
Emergency illumination helps light the exit path through these conditions. This reduces confusion for
visitors and occupants who need Illumination to find their way out of the building.
MAINTENANCE. Replace bulbs or repair fixture as required to keep illuminated at all times. A "brown-
out" (or turning off the circuit breaker for the emergency illumination circuit) can test building lighting
systems and their backup power source.

Elevator
Unless instructed by the Fire Department, never use an elevator during a fire.
MAINTENANCE.,
If you have any doubt about your personal safety, or if you can not extinguish a fire, leave immediately
and close off the area (close the doors, but DO NOT lock them). Leave the building but contact a
Firefighter to relay whatever information you have about the fire.
Fire Extinguishers
Fire extinguishers may be used to put out fires in an early
stage. Call 9-1-1 and sound the alarm before you use a fire
extinguisher to assure that your help is on the way. Remove
the fire extinguisher from Its readily accessible location. Pull,
or twist the silver pin on the fire extinguisher and remove.
Stand 8 feet from the fire, depress the handle, and sweep the
stream back and forth starting at the base of the flames until
the fire is out. Do not walk on an area that you have
extinguished, In case the fire remignites, or the extinguisher
runs emptyl Firefighters will make sure that the fire is
completely extinguished and give you assistance.
MAINTENANCE: Fire extinguishers must be serviced annually
by a trained person with proper knowledge, tools, manuals,
