Project No: EH120460A Subject: Stormwater Infiltration Assessment: Single family Residence This memorandum summarizes the results of Associated Earth Sciences, Inc.'s (AESI's) infiltration assessment at a residential lot located at 626 Maple Street in Edmonds, Washington. It is our understanding that infiltration via drywells is proposed to manage stormwater runoff from the ropf of the residence planned to be built on the property. Two hand auger borings were completed to a depth of 6 feet at each proposed drywell location. One hand auger boring was completed on the northwest comer of the lot (Hoie'l) and one hand auger boring was completed on the southeast comer of the lot (Hole 2). Soil samples were collected at one -foot intervals for visual classification. Sieve analyses were conducted on one sample from each hand auger boring at a depth of 4 feet below existing grade. Subsurface Conditions Soil samples from both hand auger borings consisted mainly of sand with varying amounts of gravel and silt. The geologic map for the Edmonds area (Geologic Map of the Edmonds East and part of the Edmonds West Quadrangles, Washington, Miscellaneous Field Study Map 1983, Scale 1:24, 000, by James Minard,) indicates the surficial geologic unit at the site is Vashon-age advance outwash deposits. Our visual examination of the samples from the two hand auger excavations support the classification of the shaflow subsurface soils at the site as Vashon- age advance outwash deposits. Soil descriptions for each hand auger boring are summarized in Table 1.
