Subject: Right of Way Permit traffic control conditions of approval
Traffic Control in the City Right-of-Wa
All signs, barricades and related equipment and their use must be in accordance with
Part IV, "Traffic Controls for Highway Construction and Maintenance Operations," of
the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, as prepared by the National Joint
Committee on Uniform Traffic Control Devices and per the City of Edmonds
Developmental Standards. Reasonable accommodations shall be made for distance
requirements in signage for geometrical conflicts. Coordination with the City Inspector
prior to all work.
Particular attention should be made to the following items:
There shall be at all times reasonable pedestrian and vehicular access to and
egress from the properties adjacent to the project, so far as possible. Contact the
affected homeowners directly to prevent conflicts.
The Public Safety Department (police and fire), 771-0200 and 771-0215,
Community Transit,(Al Silva 348-7191), and the Edmonds Public Works
Department 771-0235 shall be notified 24 hours prior to the construction.
Per Doug at PSE all work will be out of the intersection at 7th and Alder.
Proper provisions shall be made for public convenience, safety and travel.
Any asphalt concrete pavements, crushed surfacing, gravel base or water
required for maintaining traffic during the life of the project shall be placed by
the contractor immediately upon request by the engineer and/or inspector.
All unattended excavations shall be properly barricaded so as to prevent
accidents.
Construction along or across the City right-of-way shall be as per the contract
documents, City of Edmonds Standards, or as directed by the engineer and/or
inspector.

The City of Edmonds is currently experiencing a serious storm
water problem. Our sewage wastewater treatment system is being
overtaxed by large volumes of storm water from roofs, drains,
driveways, and parking lots. If this water is not eliminated from
the system, the sewage treatment plant will require expansion much
sooner than it otherwise would.
A series of tests were completed, identifying your property
as one of the infiltration sources. This storm water must be
removed from the sanitary sewer system as soon as possible. The
attached drawings indicate -several solutions to this problem, one
of which should be applicable to your property.
The City has established this as a top priority project, and
your cooperation is urgently needed. Please contact Dan Smith or
Jerry Hauth at 771-3202 for assistance prior to installation of
your modified system.

deteriorated sidewalks. A letter dated March 16, 1981 was sent to
residents that were required to repair the sidewalk abutting their
property.' The improvement of sidewalks in need of repair.at the
expense of the abutting property owner is provided by City
Ordinance, Chapter 7.20 and Revised Code of Washington, Chapter
35.68.
The areas needing repair have been marked in paint on the
sidewalk adjoining your property* Reconstruction permits must be
obtained from the Building Department at 501 Bell Street within 30
d4ys'upon receipt of this certified letter. The fee for the
sidewalk repair has been waived by the City of Edmonds. In the
event�these improvements are not completed within ninety (90) days
upon receipt of this certified letter , the City will employ a
private contractor to perform the designated repairs and the City
will bill the abutting property owner*
This action is in response to many citizen requests and
pedestrian falling accidents which have been increasing in recent
years' as a result of sidewalk deterioration and increased
pedestrian traffic.
