SUBJECT: DRIVEWAY SLOPE
The subject site has been inspected and found to have a driveway that
exceeds 14%. Per the attached letter, the slope on the driveway as it
exists is 17.5%. This waiver authorizing the driveway to exceed 14% is
granted due to the following conditions:
1) This is the only economically reasonable alternative.
2) The driveway will not present an undue traffic, pedestrian,
bicycle or safety hazard.
3) The public health, safety, and general welfare will not be
adversely affected.

Due to the steep nature of the terrain of lot #15 of Meadowdale Heights, and
without unrealistic effort and expense, we have been unable to achieve a 14 degree
slope for the driveway. We have been able to achieve a 17.5 degree or 14'rise/80'run
and still allow a safe, relatively flat parking area in front of the garage. In addition,
we have finished the concrete on the steep section with a course street broom for
maximum traction. The 17.5 degree slope does not create any public safety hazards
.or drainage problems.

After review of the'subject building permit application, we have the
following comments:
1. Construction hours are: WEEKDAYS ........... 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
WEEKENDS/HOLIDAYS..10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
2. A Right -of -Way Construction Permit is required for any work on
City property.
3. Connection to City water syste� required. Fees paid.
4. Connection10 City.sanitary sewer system required; obtain separate
permit. Fees paid.
5. Water and sewer li6es to be separated by 10 foot minimum.
6. Driveway must be paved a minimum of 20 feet back from City
right-of-way; separate permit required.
7. Driveway slope not to exceed 14,%.
8. Back water valve required.if downstairs plumbing is below

9. Builder/Owner responsible for containing all temporary runoff and
erosion control on -site. Construction may not impact neighboring

12. Inspection required on drainage system, catch basin installation,

red prior to the building division granting occupancy.
