Thank you for being there. You are all fine speakers, and definitely sound
like dedicated officers. It's too bad that the community as a whole missed your presen-
tations.
Before I start my reactions about what's happening in my area and my
thoughts on what to do about it, I have to say that things have improved. We notice no
dogs roaming (though cats love our yard!). Several years ago a person found his way into
our home while we were shopping. Very quickly, after being called, two or three
Edmonds Police officers were here. They checked things out, gave advice (measures
which we have taken to secure windows and sliding doors, etc.), and were reassuring.
That was a change from years when others in our neighborhood had called and were told
they didn't live in the City of Edmonds. Thank you for being there!
The people of the very northernmost part of Edmonds (Meadowdale) have
for many years felt the frustration that I spoke to at the meeting. Check our oil -and -
gravel streets which aren't wide enough. Check the older gentleman standing on his
pickup truck to prune overhanging trees so he can drive his RV up the street. Check the
cars racing up and down as a fairly regular event, and sliding around a very dangerous
comer; not to mention the boom -booms with loud radios. If you have been in our area,
you've probably realized that I'm referring to a short strip, 160th St. S.W., between 68th
Ave. and 70th. I'm sure the people the rest of the way west and south are affected too, as
that is their only route in and out.
Starting suggestions for coffection of these problems:
1. Widening of 160th, from 68th west (to allow safe access for passing traffic) to our
property line (paving to our drive too would help).
2. We also need speed bumps to slow speeders.
3. Possibly a concrete street divider to avoid near -misses (comer cutting) at the comer
with paint more clearly defining the centers of streets.
4. Lawn -vandal driver(s) need to be caught; at the Meadowdale athletic complex/park too
(probably the same person(s), a neighbor).
5. A stop sign -somehow -at the intersection to give people more awareness of traffic.
6. Middle of the night litterers - young,?maybe older? - beer bottle and garbage tossers
apprehended.
7. The vacant, untended, wooded lot at the southwest comer of 160th and 68th, no doubt
harbors things none of us want in our neighborhood. The absentee owner needs to check
that out and change it.
8. And, out of the immediate streets mentioned, a sign on North Meadowdale Rd. to slow
west to east bound traffic, as visibility is nonexistent at the Meadowdale Clubhouse
comer, turning out of 68th Ave. onto N.Meadowdale Rd.

between cleanout. All 90 turns must be constructed of a 45 (1/8
bend) and Wye with removable cap.
g. No down spouts, footing drains or floor drains can be connected
to side sewer system.
h. Pea gravel is required for bedding when installing sewer lines
through other than granular soil.
i. Cleanouts are required at 30"-60" from each plumbing exit line
and at minimum intervals of 1001 along sewer line run.
j. Trenches within City right-of-way must be restored to original
conditions. Contractors shall be responsible for right-of-way failure
due to poor compaction of fill. '
k.. Side sewer must be left uncovered until inspected and approved
by the City.
