RE: Sight Distance Obstruction on Fourth Avenue South

Our records indicate that you are the owner of the property at 703 Fourth Avenue South. We
have received a complaint that the vegetation on the northwest comer of your property (at the
intersection of Fourth Avenue and Erben Drive) is making it difficult for westbound drivers
approaching Fourth Avenue to adequately see traffic. City of Edmonds staff has investigated the
matter and determined that the vegetation in question does, in fact, create a sight distance hazard
per Edmonds Community Development Code (ECDC), Street Obstructions, Chapter 9.25 (copy
enclosed).
In order to reduce the hazard and enhance public safety, the City of Edmonds directs that you
remove or cut back the vegetation to a height of no more than three feet, so that oncoming traffic
can be seen.
Please complete the modification and trimming by April 21, 2006. Your cooperation in bringing
your vegetation into compliance is appreciated. Please feel free to call me with any questions at
