1114th Street Southwest" as shown on the preliminary plat, dumping this
additional traffic on to a limited access highway at a point where a curve
in the road combined with a steeply 'rising hill limits the visibility of
eastward traveling drivers. The State saw that dumping such a volume
of traffic on to a limited access highway at a point where visibility was
limited would certainly create a public safety hazard.
As we opened this statement with points regarding the maintenance
of the character and integrity of the neighborhood, let me close by reminding
t e still important and we all strive to keep Edmonds
YOU that .these pom s ar
both viable and livable. We, like others in our neighborhood, have designed ? :-
or places houses on our property to provide as much personal privacy as
possible, and would certainly want a 50-foot setback from the -northwest
property line, shown as lot number 2 on the proposed plat, with a landscape
privacy barrier in that setback.
However, inasmuch as we have both a traff ice safety consideration,
and the fact that the owners have entered into a legal agreement with the
State of Washington and accepted funds under that agreement, we strongly
recommend that application P-4-83 be immediately denied. °
One final. point concerns notification regarding this hearing. We did
NOT receive any written notification of this hearing, and only found out about {
i
it several days ago via posted signs adjacent to our property. We are certainly r
"reachable" by governmental bodies. The tax assessor certainly finds us, the t
Edmonds Fire Department and Police Department have reached us since the f
house was destroyed by fire. Consequently,. we are concerned that when others
in the neighborhood have apparently received notification, we as immediately
adjacent landowners are denied this courtesy.
