AESI arrived on site to perform construction monitoring activities associated occurring on site today. Out- presence was requested
by Mr. Ron Skinner on behalf of 1,andsverk Quality Homes (I,Qfl) to observe site conditions prior to Auger Cast (AC) pile
installation.
Atigercast Piles
McDowell used a crane with a 70 foot boom able to support the AC pile installation drill with an 18 inch diameter di-iH capable of
drilling to a depth of 40 feet, A total of I I AC piles were installed today; all piles were note to be at least 5 pile diameters apart to
prevent piles from blowing out into each other. Piles ranged in depth from 27 to 37 feet with embedment depths of 12 to 27 feet.
The tipper 15 feet of soil on the site was noted to be loose organic soil and fill that is unsuitable for a typical building foundation.
The stable soils below the loose soil consisted of hard silty sand with gravel. Once drilling was complete 4000 psi. concrete was
placed through the shaft of the AC pile drill to the bottom of the boring. The piles were installed allowing for 9 to 17 feet of head
for the concrete above the base of the drill. Next rebar cages and center bars made of 6 or 8 bar rebar were installed into the
borings, 6 bar for 25 foot piles and 8 bar for 30 and 35 foot piles. The center bar extended to the full length of the piles and the
rebar cage only extended to a depth of 22.5 feet. See table below for a summary of piles completed today. See page two For a map
of the piles completed today,
Erosion
The contractor has a small section in the northwest corner of the site where the slope to the neighboring property is over -
steepened. This section along with all the other slopes have been covered with plastic and no significant changes it) the slope
conditions were noted today.

installation.
Augereast Piles
McDowell used a crane with a 70 foot boom able to support the AC pile installation drill with an 18 inch diameter drill capable of
drilling to a depth of 40 feet. A total of 13 AC piles were installed today; all piles were note to be at least 5 pile diameters apart to
prevent piles from blowing out into each other. Piles ranged in depth from 27 to 37 feet with embedment depths of 17 to 22 feet.
The upper 15 to 17 feet of soil on the site was noted to be loose organic soil and fill that is unsuitable for a typical building
foundation. The stable soils below the loose soil consisted of hard silty sand with gravel. Once drilling was complete 4000 psi
concrete was placed through the shaft of the AC pile drill to the bottom of the boring. The piles were installed allowing for 10 to
15 feet of head for the concrete above the base of the drill. Next rebar cages and center bars made of 6 or 8 bar rebar were
installed into the borings, 6 bar for 25 foot piles and 8 bar for 30 and 35 foot piles. The center bar extended to the full length of
the piles and the rebar cage only extended to a depth of 22.5 feet. Pile operations were halted because the drive chain for the auger
broke while attempting to drill pile 38. The final two piles for this job will be completed tomorrow. See table on page two for a
suirunary of piles completed today. See page three for a map of the piles completed today.
Erosion
The contractor has a small section in the northwest corner of the site where the slope to the neighboring property is over -
steepened. This section along with all the other slopes have been covered with plastic and no significant changes in the slope
conditions were noted today.
