06.28.2016 email re pipes into CBs.pdf From:McConnell, Jeanie To:"Tracy Briggs" Cc:Tiffiny Brown;Williams, Phil;Lambert, Jennifer;Ron Smith Subject:RE: Woodvale Paving Date:Tuesday, June 28, 2016 2:24:10 PM Attachments:image015.png Tracy, Thank you for calling and sending the email follow-up. As you can see in the photos below, bricks were not placed on the exterior of the basin risers. The voids extend well past the risers in both CB’s 2 & 3 (numbered below). CB 1 doesn’t appear to have voids to the same extent and finish work could occur from the inside of the basin. Please note, mudding the basins isn’t the only concern; it is the proper filling and compaction of the void areas beyond the basin risers that is the bigger concern at this time. Jack hammering out the patches in order to fill and compact the void areas could work, as long as bricks and mud have been placed where there are currently voids in the riser sections. Please take pictures of the fill, compaction and mudding efforts. When the tubes were removed per your request my staff placed bricks on the exterior of the basins riser section. In hind site we should have mudded the area at the time. I do not see a threat of future erosion. Normally, we just leave the tubes in place and mud them prior to Paving as they are already mudded in place. We avoid final mudding prior to paving as the vibration of compaction knocks it off. To address your concern I'll have the crew come back in today (2:00) jackhammer out the patches we just placed, mud the 2 basins at the entry inside and out. Was there any other concerns? If you are unable to send an inspector out I will have them take pictures. Lakeside is paving at 8:00, the road will be re cleaned at 7:00 am. Please let me know if you had any other concerns. By saying you are ready I interpret this to mean you have the areas exposed where the pipes were in the basins so we can confirm the pipes were removed. Is that accurate? We can add it to the list if you are ready. I understand the curb sections have been re-poured, but we have not yet been called out for inspection to verify the storm pipe sections from the catch basins to the asphalt surface have been removed and the basins properly mudded. Please let me know (reply all to this email) if you would like an inspection tomorrow. Alternatively, you could call the inspection line to schedule.
