SECOND REVIEW
The following project has been evaluated under the 2003 International Codes.
1. Show storage building and storage rack elevations. Pre-application roof height was
approx. 12’. Current buildng exterior elevation is 23’ at ridge. High-piled
combustible is defined where the top of storage is 12’ or greater. Show usable
storage heights for each storage area.
2. Per Building comments and pre-application comment #5 provide shelving/floor plan
with written description of storage items including MSDSs and group classifications
of storage commodities. Also:
a. Call out location and storage commodity classifications (IFC Section 2303
and NFPA 231C).
b. Will public access storage building?
c. Call out whether shelving is solid or slatted. If slatted callout specifications.
d. How many tiers on shelving?
e. Call out maximum pile volume for each storage array.
f. Location of commodities that are banded or encapsulated.
g. Dimension and location of transverse and longitudinal flue spaces.
3. I require the preceding information so I may continue fire review.
Previous comments dtd 5/5/06 were not addressed, I am resending. Information and
evaluation of #1 and #2 are important to establish the nature of the fire protection
requirement for this project.
4. Sht A-1 General Note #12 add “…Additional fire extinguishers may be required for
special hazard areas.”
I will better comment to fire protection footprint following your responses here.
