Change of Use: Warehouse & Warehouse > Office
The following project has been evaluated under the 2003 International Codes.
1. Your comments dtd 6/6/06for warehouse storage callout “Inventory for promotional
products”. To further classify the warehouse area, the combustible nature of your
storage must be identified. Most drastic separation (S1) to business office area is
paper and plastic products stored in cardboard boxes. Less drastic (S2) is metal
and glass products stored in combustible boxes or wrapping. Callout more specific
combustibility information for storage products. (Building comment #7)
2. Callout maximum height of storage.
3. Will public be allowed access to warehouse?
4. Callout all fire walls and provide rating details (IBC Table 302.3.2).
5. B office occupancy separated from S1 or S2 storage use(s) requires a fire wall,
rated depending upon the nature of the storage. This fire separation may be
reduced by one hour to not less than one hour for S2, and two hour for S1, with
the installation of a fire sprinkler system. (IBC 302.3.2 Exception). Fire department
final inspection includes field check for current fire sprinkler service documentation
and sprinkler coverage throughout the unit. (Building comment #4)
6. Special hazards may require the addition of a fire extinguisher. Callout any
activities such as fabrication, welding, hazardous liquids and materials storage,
etc…
