Dear Mr. Simmons,
I have reviewed the above building permit application for the Planning Division and it was
found that the following information, corrections, or clarifications will need to be
addressed before review can continue:
1.Sign Area: Pursuant to Edmonds Community Development Code chapter 20.60.025.A.1,
the maximum sign area for this site in the BC zone is “one square foot of sign area for
each lineal foot of the wall containing the main public entrance to the primary building
or structure located upon a separate legal lot.” The elevations submitted show that the
amount of tenant space along the main public entrance is 26 feet in length. Therefore,
the maximum sign area for this tenant is 26 square feet. This figure may be divided
(you may have two signs) but the total sign area may not exceed 26 square feet. The
smallest rectangle that encloses all of the sign area is 28.87 square feet, and with two
signs, that is a total sign area of 57.74 square feet. However, you may provide me with
the sign area of each individual element of the sign (what is the area of each letter, logo,
line, etc.) – if the total of these elements remains under 26 square feet, then the sign is
okay. Otherwise, please revise to remain under 26 square feet.

plans/documents (affected sheets only) with a written response to each of the above items.
