On behalf of the Planning Division, I have reviewed the above building permit application. In
order to complete review of the application, please respond to the following:
Datum Point/Benchmark.
1. The full size site plans shows the datum point as the SSMH,
but the reduced copy labels the property corner as the datum. Please revise the reduced
(8.5” x 14”) site plan to show the SSMH as the datum point. Also label its elevation as
shown on the full-sized site plans.
Fountain.
2. I must confirm that the fountain meets the setback requirements. Please refer
to the following Edmonds Community Development Code (ECDC) sections:
ECDC 21.90.140 Street setback. Street setback means the minimum distance
required by this code for a building or structure to be set back from the street lot
line.
ECDC 21.90.150 Structure. Structure means a combination of materials
constructed and erected permanently on the ground or attached to something
having a permanent location on the ground. Not included are residential fences less
than six feet in height, retaining walls, rockeries, and similar improvements of a
minor character less than three feet in height.
So in order for the fountain placement to be approved, it must either be less than
three feet in height, or it must not be permanently affixed to the ground. Please
state on the site plan how the fountain will meet the setback requirements.
You may red-line the plans at our office or provide a new copies. Please make all submittals
to a Development Services Permit Coordinator, Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to noon or
