Dear Applicant:
I have reviewed the above building permit application for the Planning Division and it
was found that the following information, corrections, or clarifications will need to be
addressed before review can continue:
Reader Board Sign:
1. Edmonds Community Development Code (ECDC) 20.60.005
defines a reader board sign as “a sign that is designed to allow for a change in the
message, either by adding or removing plastic letters, or by means of electronics
and lights.” ECDC 20.60.020.M limits reader board signs to public uses or places
of public assembly. Unfortunately, a reader board sign is not permitted for private
uses, such as gas stations, and the sign permit application cannot be approved as
proposed. Please revise your plans accordingly or contact a planner if you have
questions about what types of signs are allowed within the CG zone and the
Highway 99 Corridor area.
If you would like to propose a different type of signage, please submit three copies of the
updated site plan and building plans. Please make all submittals to a Development
Services Permit Coordinator, Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to noon or 1:00 pm to
