SIGN FOR J. RANKIN JEWELERS
On behalf of the Planning Division, I have reviewed the above sign permit application.
Please respond to the following items, so that I can complete my review:
Location
1.. Will the sign be mounted on the deck or the wall above the windows?
Please clarify.
Size.
2. The maximum sign area is 22 square feet. This number is based on the
attached wall of the business – 1 square foot per linear foot of the attached wall.
See Edmonds Community Development Code (ECDC) 20.60.030A. As proposed
the sign will be 28.52 square feet. The sign area must be reduced accordingly.
Height.
3. On the elevation view, please provide the height of the sign from the
ground to the highest point of the sign. Since the sign will be internally
illuminated, it may not exceed 14 feet in height. Refer to ECDC 20.60.020M5.
Internal Illumination.
4. Internal illumination of the sign is permitted only if
certain conditions are met. Refer to ECDC 20.60.020M2. One of those
conditions is that only the letters be lit. Therefore, the diamond cannot be
illuminated.
Mounting Brackets.
5. Please clarify is the brackets will be hidden or exposed.
They may not be exposed pursuant to ECDC 20.60.020D.
FYI:
This is not a correction, but I did notice that ‘jewelers’ was misspelled with two
L’s.
