Dear Mr. ONeill:
I have reviewed the above building permit application for the Planning Division. Before I can
sign off on the permit, however, the following information needs to be clarified:
Roof Height.
1. The height of the existing residence is nonconforming in that it is greater
than 25 above average grade (by approximately 5 feet). The bulk of the proposed
addition appears to meet the current height maximum of 25 with the exception of
approximately 12 of new roof that is being added to the north side of the house. It
appears that the 12 of roof is to be constructed at the height of the current non-
conforming roof (128.25 which is listed as the existing roof elevation). However, all
new construction must meet current code requirements. As a result, the 12 of new roof
may not be built to the 128.5 existing elevation but rather to the 122 calculated
maximum elevation allowed by current code. Please show how the entire addition meets
the current height requirements.
You may either redline your existing elevations or submit new copies. Please make all
submittals to Theresa Umbaugh, your Development Services Permit Coordinator, Monday -
Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, except Wednesdays when the office is closed. If you have any
