DECK AT 8809 OLYMPIC VIEW DRIVE
Dear Mr. Bergstrom:
I have reviewed the above building permit application for the Planning Division. Before I can
sign off on the permit, however, the following information needs to be clarified:
1. Side Setback: The site plan provided indicates that the existing house is located within
approximately 5’ of the western property line. The proposed deck appears to at least
match the existing house and will be more than 7 feet off the ground. Unfortunately,
the current required side setback in the RS-12 zone is 10 feet. While decks under 30”
above the ground may project slightly into a setback, a deck more than 7 feet off the
ground may not. As a result, the western edge of the deck will need to be moved
approximately 5 feet to the east so the deck complies with the current RS-12 side
setback requirement.
Please submit three copies of your updated site plan (8.5” by 14” inches or smaller) and two sets
of any updated pages of the building plans. Please make all submittals to Marie Harrison, your
Development Services Permit Coordinator, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm daily, except Wednesdays when
