WALL SIGNAGE AT 505 5TH AVENUE SOUTH
Dear Mr. Jones:
I have reviewed the above building permit application for the Planning Division and
found that the following information, corrections, or clarifications will need to be
addressed before review can continue:
1. Number of signs: It appears that the proposal is to mount the ‘Snap Fitness’
sign on both the 5th Avenue South façade as well as the Walnut Street façade.
According to the Edmonds Community Development Code (ECDC) Section
20.60.026.4, the maximum number of permitted permanent signs is one per
physically enclosed business space on commercial sites with multiple business
tenants. Please indicate which sign is to be retained and which is to be
eliminated.
2. Illumination: Internal illumination may be permitted for signs within in the
Downtown Activity Center. However, according to ECDC Section
20.60.020.M.2, internally illuminated signs in the downtown area may only
light the letters. The background of a sign face may not be illuminated. As
such, the white background of the “Fitness – 24-7” portion of the sign may not
be illuminated.
Please make all submittals to a Development Services Permit Coordinator, Monday
through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm; we are closed Wednesdays. If you have any
