HOSOONYI SIGN PERMIT APPLICATION AT 23830 HIGHWAY 99
Dear Mr. Manning:
I have reviewed your resubmittal dated April 13, 2009 for the above building permit application for the
Planning Division, and it was found that the following information, corrections, or clarifications will need to
be addressed before review can continue.
Sign Design:
1. Please respond to the following items in regards to the sign design:
a.Your detail plans indicate a raceway, and it appears the raceway will be utilized to connect all
aspects of the sign together. If this is the case, please note on your plans that the raceway will be
painted to match the color of the building façade.
b.Your detail plans indicate an “awning frame”. The sign package for Edmonds Central Plaza
approved by the ADB does not allow for signs to be attached to awnings. Please clarify, as the sign
will need to be mounted directly to the face of the building in a location centered between the top of
the future awning and the bottom of the building cornice.
Sign Colors:
2.Your initial plans indicated that the lettering for “Tofu Restaurant” will be in white, but
your updated plans make it look like these words will be cut out of the blue portion of the sign. Please
indicate which is correct. Either way is acceptable to staff and meets the requirements of the sign
package for Edmonds Central Plaza.

Sign AreaIt appears that with the channel lettering for the word “Hosoonyi”, the maximum allowed

area of 19 square feet for the tenant space will be complied with; however, I noted some errors with the
breakdown of the calculations and want to make sure we have the correct numbers on file. Your
calculations provide 15.5” as the height of some of the letters, but 16” as the height of other letters.
Please indicate which number is correct for the height of the “Hosoonyi” letters and correct your plans
accordingly. With this correction, please confirm that the total area of these letters plus the 3.6 square
foot logo and 6.5 square foot “Tofu Restaurant” portion of the sign add up to no more than 19 square
feet. As I mentioned, it appears that the sign will meet this requirement, but we need to make sure that
we have the correct calculations on file.
Number of Signs:
4.It appears that you have reduced the proposal to only one sign instead of the two
originally proposed. Please confirm that this is correct.
