RE: PLAN REVIEW COMMENTS FOR PLAN CHECK # 2009-0105
SIGN AT 1114 TH AVENUE NORTH
Dear Ms. Heath:
I have reviewed the above building permit application for the Planning Division. Before I can sign
off on the permit, however, the following information needs to be clarified:
1. Illumination: According to ECDC 20.60.020.M.3, internally illuminated signs in the downtown
area may only light the letters; the background of the sign face may not be illuminated. It appears
that while the "MKG" letters are reverse channel letters, the remainder of the cabinet is proposed
to be illuminated. Please confirm that only the letters of the wall sign are lit.
2. illuminated Sign Height: For internally illuminated signs in the downtown area, the top of the
sign may not be higher than 14 feet (ECDC 20.60.020.M.5). As proposed, the top of the sign
would be 15' above the street. Please resubmit the proposal indicating that the sign meets the 14'
height limit.
3. Window Signs: Area for window signs is counted separately from the wall sign and according to
ECDC 20.60.035, window signs are allowed at 1 square foot per each lineal foot of window
frontage. Please identify the lineal footage of the windows and door as well as the total square
footage of the three window signs.
Make all submittals to a Development Services Permit Coordinator, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am
