Please provide written responses as to where the changes can be found on the plans, and submit revised plans/documents to a Permit Coordinator. 1.Provide a detail for the listed one hour fire resistive rated common wall assembly that separates the units, that has been tested in accordance with ASTM E 119., per R317.1 2.Show how the fire rating continues through the joists to the floor deck. a.One method to achieve the one hour rating at the floor joist level would be to use a solid beam atop the wall with top flange hangers. To do so it would be necessary to have the engineer of record (EOR) perform the burn through calculatuions in IBC 721.6.3. The EOR would then indicate the required connection to the wall. 3.For the attic separation, because 5/8” type X gypsum board is proposed at the ceiling, and the walls with ½ gyp., then R317.1 exception 2 could be used to install a draft stop in the attic at the common wall, instead of the more complicated and expensive one hour wall. This could be constructed using a gable end type truss with ½ plywood or ½ gyp board. If you would like to propose using this exception, then provide a detail to match. 4.The minimum attic ventilation at the eaves, based on 1/300 total attic ventilation, would be 1.72 net square feet. Based on (2)-2.5” diamenter holes per birdblock and the max. apparent number of blocks, only 1.29 square feet gross (not subtracting for the mesh) is proposed, which is inadequate ventilation.
