Shapiro Architects Email: tonys@adshapiro.com RE: PLAN REVIEW COMMENTS FOR PLAN CHECK # 2009-0219 WORTHINGTON RETAINING WALL AT 717 ALDER STREET Dear Mr. Shapiro: I have reviewed your resubmittal dated May 15, 2009 for the above building permit application for the Planning Division, and it was found that the following correction still needs to be addressed before review can continue: Wall Height: 1.Retaining walls must meet the minimum required setbacks for the zone in which they are located unless the walls are less than three feet in height over original grade. Since the proposed retaining wall system is located within the 15-foot rear setback from the northern property line and within the 5-foot side setbacks from the western and eastern property lines, it will need to be shown that the portions of the walls within the setbacks do no exceed three feet in height over original grade. Therefore, please label both walls at five-foot intervals with top of wall and original grade elevations to show that the walls will 5/21/09 Comment - Thank you for not exceed three feet in height over original grade. labeling the top of wall elevations on your site plan. Based on the top of wall elevations and the elevations of the topography lines, it appears that the walls will exceed three feet in height over original grade. Although the top of the walls are only three feet in height over the bottom of the walls, the requirements is that the walls may not exceed three feet overoriginal grade where located within the minimum required setbacks. Therefore, please revise the proposed retaining wall system, and show that the walls will not exceed three feet in height over original grade at any point where located within the minimum required setbacks. Please make all submittals to a Development Services Permit Coordinator, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm.
