Dear Bill,
Thank you for resolving my previous concerns regarding illumination of the proposed monument
sign and wall signs at Chase Bank. The monument sign must also meet the dimensional
requirements described in ECDC 20.60.045. Per 20.60.045.13, monument signs in the BD zone
may be a maximum of 32 square feet for a single tenant site. By definition, supporting structures
which are part of a sign display shall be included in the calculation of the sign area. As
proposed, the area for the monument sign is listed as 9.51 square feet. However, this only takes
into account the lettering and symbol rather than the entire pylon.
The height of the pylon is proposed to be 13' 7 318" from the base at ground level to the top,
which satisfies the 14' maximum height allowed in ECDC 20.60.045.D. At the same time, the
pylon is to be 2' 8 318" wide. Multiplying the pylon's height and width results in a square
footage in excess of the allowed 32 square feet. As a result, please indicate how the pylon can be
redesigned to meet the 32 square foot requirement.
