Good afternoon,
I have reviewed the above building permit application for the Planning Division. Before I can
sign off on the permit, however, the following information needs to be clarified:
Sign area: The maximum amount of sign area for the site is 20 square feet based on the
lineal width of the store front. The proposal indicates the signage will be 30.53 square
feet. As an alternative way to calculate square footage, the individual letters for the
`Verizon' and `wireless' portion of the signage can be calculated individually. This may
allow you to get the sign below the 20 square foot threshold.
2. Sign colors: As proposed, the signage will need to undergo administrative design review
since the color pallet deviates from that approved by the Architectural Design Board in
2002. Enclosed is a memo summarizing the desired appearance for signage at the
Boohan Plaza. Administrative design review can be done but it will result in an
additional $115 fee. With respect to coloration, the yellow lettering proposed for the
channel cabinet sign is not particularly complimentary with the red/blue theme of the
existing signage at the site while white lettering would probably fit better.
