All elements are permanent in the sense that they will be left in the ground with appropriate corrosion protection applied simply because there is no point in removing the anchors once they are installed. However, the portions of the original wall that remain in place will ultimately be essentially restored to their original condition in that the floor slab elevation of the new structure adjacent the wall will be at essentially the same elevation as the existing grades in front of the wall. Therefore, the original permanent wall design remains unaffected. During construction there will be limited over -excavation at the base of the existing walls. The wall has been checked for short-term stability under this temporary condition using the specified short-term design parameters and for much of the wall, no supplementary support is required (W27 through W30 and W35 through W42). Piles W31 through W34 and Piles W43 through N3 do require additional temporary support and this has been provided as shown. So even though following construction the original walls will be returned to their original state and do not require additional support, the support that is installed has been designed to remain in place and will provide additional permanent support. A portion of the new wall (P piles) will be immediately adjacent or in close proximity to a new deeper basement structure and this wall has been designed so as to not require any additional lateral earth pressure from the basement structure (i.e., designed as a free-standing wall similar to the actual free-standing portion of the new wall adjacent the parking area). 2.
