SFR REMODEL AT 704 FIR STREET
Dear Ms. Coustette-Hardy,
I have reviewed the above building permit application on behalf of Planning Division and while I
have approved the permit, I wanted to bring one concern to your attention regarding the proposed
remodel. In reviewing the plans, I noticed that a wet bar is to be installed in the updated
basement area. Wet bars are certainly allowed as part of entertainment areas, rec rooms and the
like, but their inclusion in a remodel can indicate the possible intent to use a space as a `mother-
in-law' type unit. This building permit does not allow the use of the downstairs space as an
Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU). If you plan to use the downstairs at some point as an ADU, a
separate ADU permit is required according to Edmonds Community Development Code Chapter
20.21.
