During review of the plans for the above noted project, it was found that the following information,
clarifications or changes are needed. Please provide written responses as to where the changes can
be found on the plans, and submit revised plans/documents to a Permit Coordinator.
1.R309.2 Carports not open on at least two sides shall be considered a garage, and shall comply
with the following:
a.R302.5.1 Openings between the garage and the house shall be equipped with 1-3/8
solid core wood or metal, or 20 minute rated door.
b.R302.6 The garage is required to be separated with not less than ½ gypsum
wallboard on the garage side of the separation wall. This wallboard should extend to
the roof sheathing or to the ceiling if the lid is drywalled.
2. The alternative to #1, above, would be open up the rear wall.
