RE: PLAN REVIEW COMMENTS FOR PLAN CHECK # 2010-0764
SIGN AT 22618 HIGHWAY 99 (#110)
Dear Mr. Lee,
Thank you for submitting a sign application for the Royal Bakery in Suite 110 of the Boo Han Plaza at
22618 Highway 99. The Boo Han Plaza location is subject to a sign package approved in 2000 (ADB -
2000 -07) which describes how signage must look at the site. The design requirements of this package
supersede the City's design requirements for signs found in ECDC 20.60. The dimensional requirements
for size and height found in ECDC 20.60 still apply.
As you can see from the attached staff report, ADB decision and elevation drawing, the signage for the
Boohan Plaza is to be non -illuminated and composed of thick plastic individual letters mounted to the
wall. The lighted red band at the top of the fagade is to provide illumination for the sign and the lettering
is to be fairly simple in order to create a uniform appearance for the site. The sign lettering needs to be a
single solid color to compliment the lighted band plus either black or white, as desired.
I realize that there are other types of signs currently at the site including internally illuminated channel
letters and cabinets. These signs were approved without full knowledge of the requirements of the sign
package for the site. Had the reviewers been aware of the sign package and the requirements for the site,
those signs would not have been approved. As we move forward and tenants change, new signs for the
site will comply with the sign package requirements in order to create a uniform appearance for the site as
the owner and Architectural Design Board had intended.
Please revise the proposed signage to ensure compliance with the sign package for the site and make all
submittals to a Development Services Permit Coordinator, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (425) 771-0220.
Sincerely,
r
