SIGN AT 102 MAIN STREET
Dear Mr. Lai,
I have reviewed the above building permit application for the Planning Division. Before I can sign off on
the permit, however, the following information needs to be clarified in a written response:
1. Sign Type: The upper portion of the sign spelling `Vatika' is channel lettering. The lower
portion of the sign stating `India Cuisine' appears to be a boxed cabinet. In the Downtown area
where these signs will be located, boxed cabinet signs are not permitted according to ECDC
20.60.020.L. Please clarify and revise as appropriate.
Sign Height: According ECDC 20.60.020(L) and (M), the maximum height for a sign with
interior illumination in the Downtown area is 14 feet. The code indicates that sign height is the
vertical distance from the highest point on the sign to the finished grade. As shown, the signs
appear to exceed the 14 foot maximum. Please verify and revise the elevations as appropriate.

You may redline your existing plans or submit three copies of your updated plans. Please make all
submittals to a Development Services Permit Coordinator, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
