This engineering report presents the final results of ongoing geotechnical
inspections for the multi -unit building at 316 Walnut Street. These inspections were
required by the City of Edmonds Special Inspection Agreement dated December 2,
2008.

INSPECTIONS:
This engineer has performed on -site inspections as required by the City of
Edmonds Testing Agreement regarding geotechnical aspects.
1. Excavation: Stable throughout the project and properly backfilled. Approved.
2. Temporary Shoring All temporary eco-block shoring was properly placed,
remained stable throughout the entire project, and has been successfully
backfilled. Approved.
3. Soil Bearina: The dense, native subgrade soils provided 4,000 p.s.f. bearing
capacity. All foundations have been properly placed and are geotechnically
approved.

4. Subsurface Drainage Installation: This engineer's inspections verified proper
placement of subsurface drainage and drainage material along the exterior
foundation stem walls. See photographs. Approved.
5. Backfill: This engineer inspected and verified that all backfilled was properly
completed. Free draining granular material was placed in compacted lifts under
this engineer's inspections. Approved.
6. Erosion Control: Throughout the project, the contractor properly maintained all
temporary erosion control measures: rocked alleyway construction entrance,
perimeter siltation fencing, and confinement of all work within property lines.
Permanent Erosion Control Measures: This engineer's recent (October 5, 2010)
inspection verified that all permanent erosion control measures were properly
installed. There are no exposed earth surfaces. Landscaping, plantings, beauty
bark, etc., has all been properly placed.
The overall site is geotechnically stable.
SUMMARY:
• All special geotechnical inspection items, including permanent erosion control
measures, have been properly completed and are approved.
• This report completes special engineering inspections by D. Bruce, P.E.
