Dear Ms. Kawamura: I have reviewed the above building permit applicationforthe Planning Division,and it was found that the following information, corrections, or clarifications will need to be addressedbefore review can continue: 1.Sign Size:Your plans indicate that the face of the garage is 24 linear feet; however, staff conducted a site visit and measured the face of the garage as 18 linear feet.The maximum allowed area for wall signs is equivalent to one square foot per lineal foot of attached wall. As such, the sign that is proposed to be mounted to the garage is limitedto 18 square feet in size since the face of the garage is 18 linear feet. Please revise your plans accordingly keeping in mind that this sign may need to be smaller than 18 square feet in order to also comply with the maximum total sign area for your tenant space as discussed below. 2.Total Sign Area:The maximum total sign area for your tenant space is equivalent to one square foot per lineal foot of the wall containing the main public entrance. Therefore, the maximum total sign area for City Kitty is onesquare foot per lineal foot of the façade facing Firdale Avenue.Please provide the length of the entire façade facing Firdale Avenue on your plans. Additionally, during staff’s site visit, it was noted that there is an existing City Kitty sign located on the building façade facing the parking Firdale Village parking lot. This sign must be permitted and will also count towards the maximum allowed total sign area for your tenant space.As such, the total of all signs (the sign under the window, the sign mounted to the garage, and the sign on the wall facing the parking lot) must be shown not to exceed one square foot per lineal foot of the building façadefacing Firdale Avenue. Please submit three copies of your site plan and two copies of all revised building plan sheetsto a Development Services Permit Coordinator,Monday through Friday,between8:00 am and4:30 pm.
