Dear Mr. Rogers:
I have reviewed the above building permit applicationfor the Planning Division,and it was found that the
following information, corrections, or clarifications will need to be addressedbefore review can continue:
SignDesign:
1.The plan sheet for the sign proposed on the southern building façade indicates a
rectangular-shaped sign that is 4’ by 11’-7”; however, further down on this plan sheet,itimplies
that this sign is not a perfect rectangle and that instead the length at the top of the sign(12’-2”)is
narrower than the length at the bottom of the sign(14’-0”).Please revise the sign details such that
the proposed sign shapesand dimensions are accurately indicated.
Maximum Signage:
2.The maximumallowed number of signs for thesubjecttenant space is three,
and the maximum allowed sign area for the tenant spaceis equivalent to one square foot per lineal
foot of the wall of the tenant space containing the main public entrance. Additionally, the
maximum allowed area per proposed sign is equivalent to one square foot per lineal foot of attached
wallof the tenant space.In order to determine the maximum allowed sign area for the tenant space
as well as for each proposed sign, please respond to the following:
a.Your site planappears to be incorrect.The tenant space does not extendtothe west as far as
indicated on the site plan. Please revise accordingly.
b.Upon review of thedimensions stated on your site plan against the plans from the associated
tenant improvement permit (BLD20140357), it was noted that the dimensions provided on your
site plan are significantly different than those of the tenant improvement permit. On the plans
from the tenant improvement permit, the eastern side of the tenant space scales at 75 feet,and
the southern side of the tenant space scales at 65 feet, while your plans indicate 41 feet and 51
feet respectively. Please re-measure the dimensions of the tenant space and provide accurate
dimensions on the site plan.
Proposed Sign Area:
3.As stated above, the maximum allowed total sign area for the tenant space is
equivalent to one square foot per lineal foot of the wall of the tenant space containing the main
public entrance. Based on the dimensions indicated on the associated tenant improvement permit
(BLD20140357), this would yielda maximum total sign area for the tenant space of 65 square feet.
Please respond to the following regarding the proposed sign area:
a.The proposed sign area is stated incorrectly for both signs on the plans.Proposed sign area
must include the entire sign face (i.e. the entire blue aluminum backer). Please revise the
proposed sign areas as stated on the plans for both signs such that the entiresign face is
included in the sign area.
b.As stated above, based on the plans from the associated tenant improvement permit
(BLD20140357), the maximum allowed total sign area for this tenant space is65 square feet.
The proposed wall signs will need to be reduced in size and/or number in order to comply with
the maximum allowed sign area for the tenant space.

c.A portion of the existing freestanding sign at the corner of 100Ave. W and Edmonds Way
was previously used as signage for Blockbuster (the previous tenant in the subjecttenant
space). If Sherwin Williams is proposing to reface this freestanding sign with signage for their
business, that sign will also be counted towards the maximum allowed number and total sign
areaforthe tenant space.If the freestanding sign is proposed to be refaced for Sherwin
Williams, please provide a detail indicating the size of the tenant panel to be used in the
freestanding sign. If the freestanding sign is refaced, the sizes/number of proposed wall-
mounted signs would need to be further reduced such that the total area of all proposed wall
and freestanding signs doesnot exceed the maximum allowed area for the tenant space (65
square feet).
Please submit threecopies of your revisedplan sheetsto a Development Services Permit Coordinator.
