We arrived at the request of the client to observe receptor soil conditions for the site infiltration facilities. A summary of
our observations and recommendations is presented below.
Southeast Infiltration Facility
Upon arrival, we observed that the contractor had completed the trench excavation for the SE infiltration facility. The
approximate extent of the excavation is shown on the attached site plan. The excavation was about 5 to 5 ½ feet wide and
extended about 7 feet below existing grade. The trench excavation was approximately 34 feet long. The bottom and sides
of the trench were covered with non-woven filter fabric and the first segment of StormTech structure and crushed rock
had been placed at the south end of the trench.
The 6 inch layer of low permeability silt had been excavated and removed. The floor of the trench generally consisted of
brown fine sand with some silt, which is consistent with the design receptor soils and project plans and is adequate for
the infiltration facility subgrade, in our opinion. The contractor informed us that they would be filling the trench with
crushed rock today and would then be starting excavation of the NE infiltration facility.
