Dear Applicant:
I have reviewed the above building permit applicationfor the Planning Division,and it was found that the
following information, corrections, or clarifications will need to be addressedbefore review can continue:
SignDesign:
1.Your plans indicate that the sign will be channel letters mounted on a raceway. Itappears
that the intention is to paint the raceway to match the building; however, please confirm whether the
raceway will be painted to match the building.
Maximum Signage:
2.The maximum allowed sign area foreachsignis equivalent to one square foot per
lineal foot of the attached wall adjacent to the tenant space.Upon review of the dimensions stated on
your plansagainst the plans from the associated tenantimprovement permit (BLD20141035), it was
noted that the dimensions provided on your plansare different than those of the tenant improvement
permit. On the plans from the tenant improvement permit, the northernwall adjacent tothe tenant space
scales at 21feet(your plans show 32 feet),the southern wall adjacent tothe tenant space scales at 47.75
feet(your plans show 30 feet),and the western wall adjacent tothe tenant space scales at66 feet (your
plans show 50 feet). Please correct the dimensions indicated on your plans in order to be consistent with
those shown on the tenant improvement permit.
Proposed Sign Area:
3.As stated above, the maximum allowed sign area foreachsignis equivalent to
one square foot per lineal foot of the attached wall adjacent to the tenant space.Please respond to the
following regarding the proposed sign area:
a.Based on the plans from the tenantimprovement permit, the maximum allowed sign area for the
sign on the northern wall is 21 square feet, the maximum allowed area for the sign on the southern
wall is 47.75 square feet, and the maximum allowed area for the sign on the western wall is 66
square feet. Thus, it appears that theproposed wall signs will need to be reduced in size in order to
comply with the maximum allowed sign area for the tenant space.
b.If the raceway will be painted to match the building, then you can calculate the area of each sign as
the areas of the channel lettersindividually plus the areasof the red and grey rectangles.However,
if the raceway will not be painted to match the building, the sign area is equivalent to the area of the
entire raceway.Please clearly provide all applicable sign dimensions in order for staff to verify
your sign area calculations.
