Dear Jim,
I have reviewed the above building permit application for the Planning Division. Before I can
sign off on the permit, however, the following information needs to be clarified in a written
response and through submittal of updated plans or reports:
1. Fence in critical areas: Because the proposed fence will be located on the exterior of
the property in or near steep slopes and the possible stream near the southwest edge
of the property as identified in CRA20150114, critical area reports are required.
Please submit a geotechnical report prepared pursuant to ECDC 23.80.050 that
addresses the impact of the fence relative to the development standards in ECDC
Sections 23.80.060 and .070. Similarly, please submit a stream report prepared by a
biologist pursuant to ECDC 23.90.020 that identifies whether the water feature is in
fact a stream. If it is a stream, the biologist must then address the fence relative to
the development standards in ECDC Sections 23.90.030 and 23.90.040.
For your reference, a list of qualified critical area consultants is attached. You do not
have to use these consultants but they are familiar with the critical area requirements
in Edmonds.

Please submit three copies of your updated site plan and two sets of any updated sheets of the
building plans. Please make all submittals to a Permit Coordinator, Monday through Friday,
