Meadowdale Marina 16111 75th PI W
Milo was in this day with his architect and engineer to discuss fire protection and access issues for the future marina
development.
Regarding fire access:
Milo wishes to "overbuild rather than underbuild". The existing property appears to have been sprinklered due to lack of
required access. Milo discussed considerations for providing access to the pier. I indicated the live loads must
accommodate our fire apparatus and the width of the causeway must be minimum 20'. If access is provided, using the
former logic, the building would not require a sprinkler system UNLESS the new occupancy might require it. Being
proposed are replacing wood with steel columns and providing a concrete deck for a noncombustible pier. Shoreline
management/property upgrade issues are well in the spotlight.
Regarding fire protection:
Hopefully the corroded, leaky portion of the existing sprinkler system came down with the old building. There is an
encapsulated 8" line that has never frozen (to my knowledge) for fire suppression purposes. No pedestrian/firefighter
access would be provided around the exterior due to seaside coverage from ?
A standpipe would be a reasonable accommodation whether access is provided or not.

Requirements from UFC 902.2.1 Access and ECDC 19.65 Marinas. Check NFC and other standards if plans make it that
far.
