Review of the submitted letter and site plan indicate that if the finished floor elevation of the lower level had to be lowered in order to meet the driveway slope requirement of 14%, you would be unable to gravity drain both the sanitary sewer and storm drainage detention system to the City systems. Although pumping to the City system is an acceptable method, the preferred method is gravity. Based on the elevations of the upper two driveway entrances, only the inside radius of the north driveway will exceed the maximum grade of 14%. Since the impact of the driveway slope is limited to one small area of the entire driveway and to insure that the sanitary sewer and storm drain can drain by gravity, allowing that portion of the northerly driveway entrance to exceed 14% seems reasonable. Therefore, your request for the driveway slope waiver is hereby granted to 17% for the northerly driveway approach only. Please call the Engineering Inspection line at 425-771-0220, ext. 1326, to schedule your driveway form inspection, prior to pour. If you have any questions regarding these requirements please call me at 425-771-0220 ext 1324.
