The Vashon Till was deposited directly by glacial ice during the most recent glacial porio(I as it
advanced over an eroded, irregular surface of older forinations and sedii-Aents. It is a mixture of

Advance Outwash in their native, undisturbed ,,late can provide very good, foundation support will,
little settlement expected for light to moderate residential structures,

SUBSURFACE CONDITIONS

Three shallow, band -dug pits were excavated on the lot to explore the soil conditions at tho lot. Ttle
pits encountered about 20 to 30 inches of brown, inediurn-derise, fine to niedium sand willia Iracc ol
gravel. Underlying the surficial brown sandy soils is a tan to light -brown, dense, gravOly, fine to
inedium sand deposit filling the description of the Advance Outwash. GroundwAter was not
cricountored by the pits.

The footing foundations should be placed on or into the underlying, dense, tin io light-browu:

excavated footing trenches. Disturbed soils in footing trenches should be completely renlovei oi-

C'
m m N
If the above recommondations are followed, our recommended design criteria for footing
foundations are as follows:
6 Allowable soil bearing pressure for footing foundations, iticluding dead and live londs, 10
should be no greater than 3,000 psf. The footing bearing soils should be verified on-sitc by a
geotechnical engineer after the footing trenches have been excavated and before the footings
are poured.

o The mirritawn depth to bottorn of perimeter footings below adjacent final exterior giadc z
should be no less than IS inches. The mininium depth to bottoin of the interior footings
below top of floor slab should be no less than 12 inches.
Z'
The inininturn width should be no less thazi 16 inches for continuous wall footings, and no
less than 24 inches for individual footings.
