RE: Stop Work Order
Dear Mr. Odell:
The purpose of this letter is to explain the Stop Work order issued to your business today. The City
Fire Department informed my office that remodeling work (garage door change to man -door, guardrail
installation, etc.) was currently being performed at your business. Upon verification, a Stop Work
order was issued as there is no building permit for this work. You must immediately cease and desist
all construction work until you obtain the required building permit.
You are hereby required to respond to all outstanding City review comments applicable to your current
application on file with the City, and submit complete responses and revised plans by February 9,
2004. Failure to respond by this deadline shall result in the issuance of an Order to Correction
Violation Notice, the first step in the City's Civil Penalties process. Once all plan review comments
are approved you shall be required to immediately obtain the building permit.
To re -iterate the occupancy use of your business located at 24111 Highway 99, is an S- I warehouse as
defined in Uniform Building Code. This space may not be used as an auction house or mercantile
space in any manner at any time or for any special event. The public is not permitted to be within this
space. I am requesting by way of this letter that the Fire Department perform periodic inspections to
verify that no auctions are held at this location. Occupancy violations are considered to be one of the
most flagrant life -safety violations of the Building Code. All such violations that are brought to the
attention of the Building Official are subject to penalties as outlined in Edmonds Community
Development Code Section 20.110.
