The soils exposed on v m C� the cut banks consist of about 2.to 3 feet of dark .brown topsoil and black peat deposit, underlain by a gray, m n fine sand deposit. This fine sandy soils at the footing level are of advance outwash deposit. Groundwater p e seepage is encountered at the contact between the peat and the, fine sand. A ditch is being cut along the base M of the cut banks to intercept the groundwater and the water is directed into a sump pit at the southwest corner. rn z of the site where it is pumped out. C Z �i A steel T-bar manually pushed into the undisturbed fine sand soils can penetrate to about 4 to 8 inch deep, indicating the footing bearing soils are medium-dense to dense. It is my opinion that the footing bearing soils 0 will be able to render an allowable bearing capacity of at least 2,500 psf.
