At the request by Bob Murphy, I come on site today to verify the footing bearing soils for the home to be
constructed on the property at the above address in Edmonds, Washington, The building footprint has mostly N —I
been excavated out about 3 to 5 feet down to the footing level at the time of my site visit. The soils exposed on v m

the cut banks consist of about 2.to 3 feet of dark .brown topsoil and black peat deposit, underlain by a gray, m
n
fine sand deposit. This fine sandy soils at the footing level are of advance outwash deposit. Groundwater p e
seepage is encountered at the contact between the peat and the, fine sand. A ditch is being cut along the base

of the cut banks to intercept the groundwater and the water is directed into a sump pit at the southwest corner. rn z

A steel T-bar manually pushed into the undisturbed fine sand soils can penetrate to about 4 to 8 inch deep,
indicating the footing bearing soils are medium-dense to dense. It is my opinion that the footing bearing soils 0
will be able to render an allowable bearing capacity of at least 2,500 psf. A 4 to 6 inch layer of 2-inch4ninus _
crushed rock maybe placed over the footing bearing soils, as required, to protect them against disturbance m m ,
by construction traffic; Disturbed soils, if any, should be removed prior to pouring concrete for the, footings. p
